New Asimov Movies Coming: related news

New Asimov Movies Coming

bowman9991 writes "Two big budget Isaac Asimov novel adaptations are on the way. New Line founders Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne are developing Asimov's 1951 novel Foundation, the first in Asimov's classic space opera saga, which has the potential to be as epic as Lord of the Rings. At the same time, New Regency has recently announced they were adapting Asimov's time travel novel The End of Eternity. Despite having edited or written more than 500 books, it's surprising how little of Isaac Asimov's work has made it to the big screen. '"Isaac Asimov had writer's block once," fellow science fiction writer Harlan Ellison said, referring to Asimov's impressive output. "It was the worst ten minutes of his life."' Previous adaptations include the misguided Will Smith feature I, Robot, the lame Bicentennial Man with Robin Williams, and two B-grade

New York State Looks To Implement "iTunes Tax"

How do you stem a state's $15.4 billion budget gap? By implementing the age-old American tradition of creating new taxes, that's how! Because of the current state of the economy and New York State's dire budget woes, New York state residents might be surprised to find that Governor David Paterson's new $121 billion budget proposal looks to tax items and services that have been traditionally been tax free in the state, including digital downloads. According to Ron Deutsch, executive director of the New Yorkers for Fiscal Fairness advocacy group, "the governor is nickel-and-diming working class families" with his new budget proposal.

Resurrecting Old Games, What Works?

There has definitely been a resurgence of old games being made new again through various methods. Unfortunately, any time you reinvent an old classic you risk either alienating the original audience or not making it appealing enough for the a new audience. "Capcom has been at the forefront of the recent remake boom, re-imagining a number of their classic titles as downloadable games. Bionic Commando, for example, was given a high-definition 2.5D makeover, and a rockin' remixed soundtrack with Bionic Commando: Rearmed. Capcom also re-released a new version of Street Fighter II on the way, with the lengthy new title Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Interestingly, both games are coming out near new entries in their respective franchises: Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando.

Movies Disappearing From iTunes Store

Certain movies disappearing from iTunes Store, cause unknown

There are enough movies on the iTunes Store these days that some users have begun bookmarking movies they'd like to rent or buy in the future. The system normally works pretty well, but things start to break down a bit when the movies you've bookmarked aren't there when you come back for them. As noted by Macworld, one of its contributors was recently faced with this dilemma (as were we, but we thought we were crazy!), and did a bit more searching only to discover that several movies had mysteriously disappeared from the iTunes Store.

Court Halts New York Slot Auction: AINonline

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia yesterday granted a petition by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to order a stay of the FAA’s plans to auction takeoff and landing slots at Newark Liberty International Airport and New York JFK and La Guardia Airports. The ruling will at least delay the FAA’s plans to start gradually reallocating 10 percent of the slots airlines now operate free of charge until the Obama Administration takes office. The agency had scheduled the first auction for January 12. Championed by the Bush Administration’s DOT as a cost effective, competitive way to alleviate congestion over New York’s busy airspace, the plan drew condemnation from the airlines and Congressional leaders, as well as an opinion by the Government Accountability Office that the department did not carry the legal author
