Why do so many gamers dislike Halo: related news

halo why dislike do gamers many so
Along with a strong foundation of loyal gamers at Halo’s hands, the series has a wide variety of haters. Some of whom are Playstation fans who don’t like Xbox (for what ever reason, brand loyalty perhaps or just ignorance), and so with Halo being the face of Xbox 360 inevitably hate Halo as well. Other haters are "true", hardcore PC gamers who frown and look down from their high horse saddles of PC shooters and see Halo as an inferior breed. Then we have people who just hate Halo for the rebellious status. Now, I won’t be too naive, these aren’t all the haters of the Halo brand and that’s not all of their reasons no doubt, yet they make up a good portion of them. There are people who started off by enjoying the original Halo, which in itself was a great and very different fantasy propelled shooter of its time as it offered an in

I'm a web developer who has design and programming experience. So, VB, ASP, PHP, Coldfusion, Perl, even C and C++ I have in my belt. I also use Dreamweaver and/or do a lot of my HTML/XHTML/JavaScript coding by hand. So, the DOM, DHTML, etc, all good to me and even OOP thinking and design I have when I code. And I even have MySQL and other databases, again, not an issue here. So, my weak point is — Java — I see so many jobs out there with J2EE, Hibernate, Eclipse, Netbeans. Beside the obvious, which is to learn Java the core language, I don't know where else to go from there. There is so much! What should I read? in what order? What software do I require? UML? Swing? I mean, what is the curriculum required for someone to say they are a solid Java developer? Even assuming I have to go through Java itself, what are the good books out the

"Recently I read a review of an mp3 player where the author purposely chose not to discuss sound quality because, in the author’s words, 'The chosen player has a great deal to do with how you access your music, but very little to do with how it sounds…' That got me thinking. Do all mp3 players sound alike? They are all digital, so it’s the same 1’s and 0’s playing the music, so how can there be a difference in sound quality? I have tested some mp3 players myself and have noticed drastic differences. I have trouble believing that mp3 players don’t influence sound quality that much. They have different components, circuitry, software and build tolerances, so how can there not be a difference?"

Opera, staged or in concert, has been an intermittent and not especially well-adjusted visitor to the Mann Center for the Performing Arts. No mystery why: Operatic needs are numerous and specific in ways that don't sit well in an all-purpose venue. And opera in any setting has so many components that budgets go up and prospects of total success down. So respect and gratitude are in order for the Philadelphia Orchestra's coming so far out of its comfort zone to present a concert performance of La Boheme on Tuesday under Rossen Milanov, even if amid so many compromises you wondered if the effort was worth it.

Thanks a lot for your wonderful article. It strikes me because it’s based on a life journey, not an intellectual black or white / good or bad demonizing-the–other simplistic fight over arguments. I remain however puzzled on why so many pro-life committed Christians seem so less enthusiastic, to say the least in some cases, in fighting for other social issues of the pro-life teachings of the Church (e.g. the death penalty, arms trade, debt relief to third world countries, the lies of the anti-terrorist propaganda, social and economic rights, the plight of the poor, migration issues and so forth). Again: do we really embrace the teachings of the Church as a whole? Or are we retaining the pick and choose mentality while showing ourselves self-righteously pro-life? What do you think of this?

You may have wondered why unsecured loans that are granted by banks and traditional lending institutions have so many credit requirements and why they are so hard to qualify for. Truth is that this has not a simple explanation but we can try a fairly accurate clarification of this fact by analyzing how risk affects these loans.

The good news about the Internet is the information we can get our cursors on instantly; the bad news is the information we can get our heads around instantly, but without any way of gauging accuracy, relevance, or completeness. This is particularly evident in the financial-investment-retirement world, where thousands of websites tell us how to do things and why, and why things work the way they do and how. Few gurus explain why and how certain concepts and plans of action just may not work the way they are supposed to.

DragonTHC writes "I'm thinking about hosting a lan party open to the public. I'm aiming for approximately 60 people to attend. I can handle all the logistics of operation. The only thing I can't wrap my head around is: how do I prevent theft at the lan party? Do I hire security guards? Do I need security cameras? I don't know the people who will attend, and I don't know if they're trustworthy enough to not steal other people's equipment. What do I do?"

For every person who has said, "Let's network these two computers" there are many more asking "Why is the network running so slow?" Yet, the ethereal nature of Ethernet has long made computer networks hard to decipher and many a business or home user has longed to peek into the data stream to see just what is going on. You could pay tens of thousands of dollars for the answer - but we'll do it using freely available tools for Linux.

iPhone App store; why do we need 10 tip calculators? As I posted yesterday, I updated my first generation iPhone to the 2.0 firmware and started trying out 3rd party applications from the App Store. Since there are no trials available I had to pull the trigger on a couple applications I really wanted to try out and bought Super Monkey Ball and SplashMoney so far. Browsing through the iPhone App Store was fun, interesting, and a bit frustrating and I came away with a few impressions.

Then here’s the question. Why hasn’t the Obama campaign opened their Christmas gifts and made use of them? Why haven’t they gone after McCain’s “disgrace” remark regarding Social Security? Have they said anything at all about that? Why haven’t they hammered away at some of his statements and the inconsistencies surrounding them about carve-out privatization plans? Will they do anything with the implication identified above that McCain must be planning to cut benefits? Why so much silence from the Obama campaign on the Social Security issue?

It's safe to say that the folks at Ubisoft do good work, so back in 2006 when gamers got a taste of Red Steel, their fps for the Nintendo Wii, we had to wonder: what happened?

Running a small business can be a life-consuming process, so sometimes small-business owners miss the forest for the trees. Maybe that's why only about 16 percent of businesses with fewer than 50 employees in the United States have 401(k) plans. Small-business owners are so focused on developing their businesses that some do not realize that those assets can grow at a much faster rate for their retirement under the right plan. An October survey by ING DIRECT's ShareBuilder401k, which designs 401(k) plans for small businesses, found that "not enough employees" was the top reason cited by small-business owners as to why they do not have a 401(k) plan. That's despite the fact that even sole proprietorships with no other employees can have 401(k)s.

hat is the use of a business blog? The whole idea of a blog is to reflect your personal thoughts and opinions. But why do people do this?

Elizabeth, What about Amazon using book sales as its loss leader? You know, where a company intentionally loses money on one or a multitude of products to lure in customers to sell others where they do make a profit? Perhaps Amazon should quit discounting books so heavily, if they are losing money--they have a choice, despite their decision not to leave POD publishers any. Why don't they stop discounting altogether if they're losing so much that we should feel sorry for them? And why can't they own up to being a book retailer and accept 40% off list like other bookstores, online or not? Why is it that Amazon's BookSurge, in two years of Amazon ownership, could not compete on a level playing field with the rest of the POD print providers?

As a Web designer, like me, you probably spend a lot of time online. But how much of that time is spent doing things that improve your career, increase your sales, or just keep you working effectively? I find that it's really easy to get side-tracked when researching an article or designing a website. So I'm always looking for ways to be more productive. The article 14 Simple Things to Boost Your Online Productivity from MakeUseOf.com really does have simple things you can do to be more productive. I already do a number of them - from consolidating my email in one place, to using an application launcher (I prefer ActiveWords for Windows, but I do use QuickSilver on my Mac). What do you do to stay productive?

walshy007 writes "In a recent thread it was asked what it would take for an 'unstable' 2.7 development tree to be created, to which Linus replied: 'Nothing. I'm not going back to the old model. The new model is so much better that it's not even worth entertaining as a theory to go back. That said, I _am_ considering changing just the numbering. Not to go back to the old model, but because a constantly increasing minor number leads to big numbers. I'm not all that thrilled with "26" as a number: it's hard to remember. I think the time-based releases (ie the "2 weeks of merge window until -rc1, followed by roughly two months of stabilization") has been so successful that I'd prefer to skip the version numbering model too. We don't do releases based on "features" any more, so why should we do version _numbering_ based on "features"?'"

Halo Wars, it's one hell of a big title, and one hell of a change from the traditional Halo gameplay. Halo games are known for fast action and quick intense fights. Real Time Strategy games on the other hand are famous, infamous to some, for their long drawn out sessions and slower, more methodical matches. Banking on Halo players to make the transition could be risky, not to mention that no console RTS has yet managed to prove as popular as it's PC counterpart. For their first ever non PC game Ensemble Studios, the people behind the acclaimed Age of Empires series, are confident that they've done the seemingly impossible and created a real RTS experience for the Xbox 360.
