South Park boxset gets Rock Band DLC Rock Band: related news

South Park boxset gets Rock Band DLC (Rock Band)

The South Park Season 11 box set will include a special bonus for fans of Rock Band in the form of a three track pack you'll be able to download for Rock Band.

"Come on Nintendo, we need a hard drive," says Rock Band dev (Rock Band)

Rob Kay, design director at Harmonix and on Rock Band, has blamed the lack of storage space as the primary reason why Wii Rock Band owners will not be able to download extra songs via DLC.

Rock Band: Pink Floyd Announced

As if Rock Band hadn't already taken enough from Guitar Hero, they're also matching the series move for move from here on out, it seems. With the announcement a few weeks ago that Guitar Hero was going to have an all-Aerosmith title, the crazy diamonds at EA have struck a similar deal with 1970s sensation Pink Floyd to do the same, with Rock Band: Pink Floyd. The game will follow the band's rise to fame, starting from the 1964 concert where they first changed their name to Pink Floyd (for those not up to snuff on the mythos, they were initially called the Tea Sets, but ended up scheduled to perform at a small concert after a band with the same name), following them year-by-year all the way to when they broke up, and their brief reconciliation at the Live 8 concert in 2005.

Rock Band meets iTunes, opens built-in music store

The music industry is in the middle of an upheaval: physical sales of CDs are down, but musicians like Trent Rezner are seeing success by offering their music directly to the consumers. At the same time, the industry is taking notice of the success of peripheral-oriented games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, games that allow consumers to play and sing along to their favorite songs using plastic musical instruments. It's big business. Guitar Hero is a billion-dollar franchise and Rock Band is selling in large numbers as well. With a new update released in recent days, Rock Band has become even more of an innovator, now offering the sale of music tracks directly from the game's menus.

Mega-Platinum Recording Artists Motley Crue And Revolutionary Music Video Game Rock Band Team Up To Make History

Two of rock & roll's biggest powerhouses—mega-platinum recording artists Mötley Crüe and revolutionary music video game Rock Band —are joining forces to make history. Harmonix and MTV Games announced today that Mötley Crüe will be the first band to release their brand-new single, "Saints Of Los Angeles," as a downloadable, playable track through Rock Band. The track, released on Mötley Records, will be available for download for $0.99 beginning on April 15th via Xbox LIVE Marketplace (160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) and on April 17th via the PLAYSTATIONStore.

And the beat goes on (Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1)

In an effort to keep Wii and PS2 Rock Band fans happy (what with the total lack of downloadable songs), Harmonix and MTV Games have put together Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1 - an expansion to suit all your Stone Temple Pilots and Nine Inch Nails needs. The Pack goes on sale July 15 for the hefty sum of $29.99, but in exchange you get 20 songs and the vague assurance that there will be more Track Packs to come. So even if you don’t spring for Volume 1, keep your fingers crossed for Volume 2 - after all, you can’t stop the rock.
