"Valkyria Chronicles will have in early August a series of downloadable content, through an update that will just integrate those bonus in the game. Priced 300 yens (less than 2 euros), the Hard EX Mode will permit you to play nine battles in Free Battle mode in a very high mode of difficulty, even more than the original game, which is not nothing.

Destructoid writes: "Valkyria's story focuses on Welkin, a soldier in the Federation's 7th infantry platoon that is working to keep the small country of Gallia safe from an invading Empire. There will be over 100 customizable characters that can join Welkin's force, and, thanks to the BLiTZ tactical battle system, you can control their real-time actions in addition to issuing standard tactical commands.

One of the great things about playing cricket in the Midlands is the passionate support of the Warwickshire fans, who help make any game there so atmospheric. It was great to come back to a ground that I'm very fond of after spending time there during 2006 and 2007, and seeing some old friends. I really enjoyed my time at Warwickshire and would love to play some more cricket here in the future, and learn under the new coach Ashley Giles, who like me was a left-arm twirler.

I managed to land an extensive play session, where I had the privilege of going through multiple stages of Chronicles. After a guided walkthrough by Christopher at Sega to show me the in-game ropes, it took me all of...oh, two minutes to fall in love with this game.

Whether it is a fat panda, a lonely robot or a guy in armour with a sword, I'm sure most of us over a certain age get bored very quickly with the marketing blitz that accompanies each and every release of a kids' film these days. And of course along with that comes the obligatory multi-platform cash-in - and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian fulfils its side of the deal in this respect. I've been taking a look at the PS3 version of the game, although name the console and there is of course a version for you.

Apparently this got some discussion a few weeks back, but I was just alerted to the fact that some European politicians have been debating how to handle the new media landscape that makes some odd and totally contradictory suggestions which the possibilities of bloggers becoming a problem by "polluting cyberspace." While some of the argument has been blown way out of proportion, there are some things that are very problematic in the way the paper is written.

Kotaku: BioShock on PS3 is going to get some exclusive DLC. Get your pissing and moaning out of the way now, if you could. Done? Wonderful. Because you can't really mess with BioShock's story by adding extra levels or bosses, 2K are instead adding some things called "Challenge Rooms", which will be self-contained areas (ie, you access it from the main menu, not in-game) designed to get you using your plasmids to solve puzzles

Dylan Jobe reiterated some points PS3Fanboy touched on previously, but also had a very strong statement that is sure to please Warhawk fans: "To earn the Warhawk Platinum Trophy, all you have to do is unlock the base game's 44 Trophies...you do *NOT* have to buy any DLC to unlock the Platinum Warhawk Trophy. Forcing players to buy our DLC would be super-craptastic and completely unacceptable." That should calm all you hardcore Warhawk players.

I must take exception to some comments here, regarding the friends of mine who by association were "dissed". These are the people I work with, and when you insult one of us, you insult All of us. I trust that those type of comments will no longer be found here. But feel free to critique my personal work, I enjoy your comments, good or bad, just show a little respect is all I ask. Allow me to correct the situation by exhibiting some of the work of these Artists here. These Gentlemen are the real deal, and I post their pictures here on MT for your pleasure only. I have permission to post these pictures and I am sure none of them will mind seeing this on Motor Trend at all. Some of these pictures have most likely been in MT at one time or another anyway :

July 14, 2008 - The Riddick film franchise pretty well wore out its welcome with the second movie, but the Chronicles of Riddick saga still seemed strong when Vivendi Games announced the remake of Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. A surprisingly great first-person shooter, Butcher Bay proved that bringing Hollywood into gaming was not a deal with the devil. It made a star out of game developer Starbreeze (which went on to make The Darkness) and it also gave star/producer Vin Diesel a chance to give one of its brightest performances.

During the Great Depression, farmers would destroy crops in order to create some kind of floor price for their fruits and vegetables, even though many of their fellow citizens were starving to death. John Steinbeck chronicles this plight in Grapes of Wrath, a book I will pretend to have read (I actually read some of it, but man that book was thick).

Movies movies movies... we all love a good show, but the lovely MPAA is up to some pretty strange shenanigans to ensure that you get to see some shows just once—until they're out on DVD at least. The fab guys at the Motion Picture Association of America are petitioning the FCC on behalf of some major movie studios to close the "analog hole" that may allow people to record movies broadcast on cable before they hit DVD. "The Petitioners' theatrical movies are too valuable in this early distribution window to risk their exposure to unauthorized copying" runs the argument, and is why the MPAA wants "selectable output control" (SOC) enabled on some cable box outputs.

Since the opening of the iTunes App Store, I've been downloading a wide variety of applications and so far, it's been a blast. Sure there are some duds being offered, some are diamonds in the rough and some are full-fledged gems. But then again, that's pretty much the case when it comes to computer software in general so that shouldn't be surprising. What I thought I'd do this week is tell you about some of the apps I like as a sampling if what's being offered.

Brando's 6x Tele-zoom for iPhone can get you in close. The iPhone's camera is certainly not top notch, but given some decent light and a steady hand, it's not hard to wrangle some good shots out of it. However, the camera's fixed lens, fixed aperture, and low sensitivity don't make for much versatility. With some inexpensive accessories, though, you can add some spice to your picture-taking.

In the past 10,000 years, people have been evolving rather quickly, though this speed doesn't seem fast enough for everyone, says this US News and World Report article. Anthropologist John Hawks points out that some people can now digest lactose and others have some resistance to smallpox or malaria even though those genes used to be rare. But today's world is changing so quickly that Oxford's Nick Bostrom says biological evolution isn't keeping up and some people are turning to preimplantation genetic diagnosis to choose some of their child's traits. However, bioethicist Thomas Murray adds, "Our capacity to do these kinds of intentional designs is vastly overrated."

One of the most common questions I get from people wanting to become freelance Web designers is how do I set a price? It's a hard question to answer, but I found an interesting article from GoMediaZine written last fall that talks about some of the standard problems designers have when deciding how to charge. A designers guide to pricing has some things in it I don't agree with - such as only using contracts for "big" projects (if you agree with them, you should read some of the horror stories where people got stuck holding the bag when they didn't have a contract on a "little" project). But it does cover some essentials like how to pitch a project and invoicing and so on.

Some parents have a strange habit of clicking pictures of their babies in the buff. With the Internet and blogging, a few parents are also putting up those pictures for all and sundry to see. Either there should be legislation against allowing parents to click naked pictures of their kids, or some sort of age of consent where kids have a say in whether the world should see those pictures. Parents need to be told that 2-year-old Ratan’s picture showing his little wee-wee is really not funny when said Ratan, now 32, brings home the girl he wants to marry.

Speaking of line cutting, some Apple developers are pretty hot about an unsavory tactic that some less scrupulous developers are using to get to the front of the line in the iPhone’s App Store. Apparently, many have taken to renaming their applications (mostly games) with spaces and other symbols so that they’ll be at the top of the page in the App Store’s category view â conceivably bumping up sales.
