Epic Games and Del Rey, an imprint of Ballantine Books at the Random House Publishing Group, have announced there will be three novels set in the world of Gears of War video game series. "The first novel, GEARS OF WAR: THE BATTLE OF ASPHO FIELDS, written by #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Traviss, will go on sale October 28, 2008."

The one and only Cliff Bleszinski popped up on the NeoGAF forums where the latest video of Gears of War 2 was being discussed, to clarify the Longshot sniper's abilities. Responding to a remark claiming that "active downs with the Longshot are still existent in Gears 2", Cliff denied the claim, stating that the Longshot will not have insta-down abilities in Gears 2.

In an IGN interview with Cliff Bleszinski, it was revealed by Cliff that Gears of War 2 would not be coming to the PC. The point of interest came up in a question about Gears 2's "Linked Achievements" and the Achievement portability with an account from Games for Windows Live.

Last month, there were rumors of a limited edition of Gears of War 2 that will include a Lancer Assault Rifle, in a move that will follow the steps of the Halo 3 Legendary Edition that featured the Master Chief helmet. The rumor was partially true. There will be such an edition of Gears of War 2 that includes a replica of the Lancer Assault Rifle, but a bundle put together by Amazon.com rather than an official edition created by Microsoft Game Studios.

What They Play Reports: "Sure to be one of the biggest games of this year, Gears of War 2 for Xbox 360 will no doubt be at the very top of the vast majority of kids' pester-list this holiday. The original game was incredibly successful, but it earned it's "M" rating for plenty of blood, violence, and strong language. In our report on the first game we found that, "Shotgun blasts tear the heads off enemies, while machine guns, and pistols tear through flesh until the blood of the victim sprays crimson. Of particular note is the gun with the chainsaw attachment that allows the player to cut through foes in such a way that the blood splatters against the television screen, obscuring the player's view of the action for a few seconds."
