Monkey-tailed freak of nature Son Goku lives a carefree life of gluttony in his mountain home until the day that Bulma, a young female adventurer, stumbles (or runs) over him while searching for the magical Dragon Balls. Realizing the young lad's potential as a bodyguard—and coveting the Dragon Ball in his possession—Bulma takes Goku along with her. In their quest to bring together the balls, and thus gain the wish the balls can grant, the two join forces with a perverted shape-shifting pig, a mildly perverted desert bandit, and a seriously perverted hermit to take on the cruel Red Ribbon Army, a military force with its eyes on the Dragon Balls. Later Goku goes to train under the hermit, Master Roshi, only to be assigned the task of retrieving a fresh young gal for the perverted old geezer.

WASHINGTON, March 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A powerful stellar explosion detected March 19 by NASA's Swift satellite has shattered the record for the most distant object that could be seen with the naked eye. The explosion was a gamma ray burst. Most gamma ray bursts occur when massive stars run out of nuclear fuel. Their cores collapse to form black holes or neutron stars, releasing an intense burst of high-energy gamma rays and ejecting particle jets that rip through space at nearly the speed of light like turbocharged cosmic blowtorches. When the jets plow into surrounding interstellar clouds, they heat the gas, often generating bright afterglows. Gamma ray bursts are the most luminous explosions in the universe since the big bang. "This burst was a whopper," said Swift principal investigator Neil Gehrels of NASA's Goddard Space Fl

Peering across 7.5 billion light-years and halfway back to the Big Bang, NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has photographed the fading optical counterpart of a powerful gamma ray burst that holds the record for being the intrinsically brightest naked-eye object ever seen from Earth. For nearly a minute on March 19, this single "star" was as bright as 10 million galaxies. Hubble Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2) images taken on Monday, April 7 show the fading optical counterpart of the titanic blast. Hubble astronomers had hoped to see the host galaxy where the burst presumably originated, but were taken aback that the light from the gamma ray burst is still drowning out the galaxy's light even three weeks after the explosion. Called a long-duration gamma ray burst, such events are theorized to be caused by the death of a very massive

Invisible Pink Unicorn writes "A gamma ray burst detected on March 19 by NASA's Swift satellite has set a new record for the most distant object that could be seen with the naked eye. The burst had a measured redshift of 0.94, meaning the explosion took place 7.5 billion years ago. The optical afterglow from heated gas was 2.5 million times more luminous than the most luminous supernova ever recorded, making it the most intrinsically bright object ever observed by humans in the universe. The previous most distant object visible to the naked eye is the nearby galaxy M33, a relatively short 2.9 million light years from Earth."

When Irfan Pathan clubbed Mohammad Asif to long-off in the 18th over of Punjab's chase, something caught his eye as he set off for a run. After a few seconds the umpire I Shivram signaled a no-ball. Asif clearly hadn't overstepped, neither did he deliver the ball above Pathan's waist. Apparently, Pathan spotted only three fielders within the 30-yard circle - instead of the customary four - and gestured to the umpires after setting off for the run. Shivram duly deemed that an illegal delivery and an alert Pathan got his wish. The TV commentators couldn't resist taking Shivram's case and jokingly suggested that he take his shades off, that too under the floodlights.

The last ball of the 70th over had an otherwise resolute Jacques Kallis in a spot of bother. Harbhajan Singh, with a 6-3 leg-side field, got one to turn and spit up from outside off stump and Kallis stayed back to uneasily fend it off. What followed drew loud gasps from all who saw it. The ball struck Kallis' glove, rolled onto the stumps and actually made contact. The bails, however, stuck to the grooves and remained intact. The next time the ball deflected off Kallis' bat the bails did come off, but by that time he'd helped himself to 132.
