The latest firmware version 2.4 went live for the PlayStation 3 last night, bringing in-game XMB access and trophy support. Fret not, though, as patches and promises have begun to trickle in from developers across the board.

The PS3 is More Than a Toy With Fedora

"By contrast, the PS3 has had support for running Linux since before it was released, and Sony has made support code and packages widely available. The "Cell addons" CD released around the system's launch included direct support for Fedora 5 and 6, but it also provided all the files needed for other distributions to develop PS3 ports. As a result, Fedora 7 simply works on the PS3 without the need for a separate CD, although you still need to use the Sony downloads to install the bootloader. The add-on software CD (see Resources) continues to get updates with new kernel versions."

Nyko Media Hub Increases Port-ness Of PS3 Those who have been buying the current PS3 (40GB model) may have noticed that the console is slim on a few ports. But that’s OK, because Nyko has turned their attention to all y’all who are missing your USB ports. Nyko’s Media Hub for the PS3 ups the USB and memory card reading ante for all models of the PS3. The top phone manufacturer is Nokia (NYSE: NOK), while the top platforms, are Microsoft’s (NSDQ: MSFT) .Net and Sun Microsystem’s Java ME.
