John Carmack, the president and technical director of id Software, said in an interview that the forthcoming Rage title from the studio mostly known for Doom and Quake series would not look exceptionally good on Microsoft Xbox 360 video game console since the developers will need to use advanced compression methods to fit the game on two dual-layer DVDs. Electronic Arts’ Pandemic Studio was working on a Dark Knight game, according to an AP report. The DS was Nintendos biggest gamble in years: up against the PSP which is a much more powerful multimedia machine, the DS was expected by the industry to be an out and out failure. Even the company pitched it as the Third Pillar alongside the Game Boy Advance and the GameCube. It was supposed to be another string to the bow and a kind of stop gap between the GBA and the Game Boy Next, or Game Boy Evolution, or the Game Boy Revolution or even the Game Boy Superior. Whatever. The fact is that Nintendo could not have anticipated the success of the machine its flagship title was a rehash of a game that was released as a system seller on another machine. Ridiculous.

Game company Nintendo announced today that it had filed a lawsuit against five Japanese firms for importing and selling equipment that enables illegal game programs to be played on Nintendo's popular DS portable video game player. The company, maker of the popular Wii game console, said it filed the lawsuit earlier in the day at the Tokyo District Court together with 54 other Japanese software makers. Federation of American Scientists put its money where its mouth is. FAS released Immune Attack, an educational video game designed to teach immunology to AP level high school students and combines the most current research on teaching methodologies with a 3D first-person shooter game. 'The key to the game was making sure it was fun while also covering accurate and complex immunology topics,' said Dr. Michelle Lucey-Roper, director of the FAS Learning Technologies Program.
