"Although it's unsure whether the website that was previously hosted on Bond.com was dedicated to the famous "007," the URL currently leads to a parked page." Seems pretty clear to me that it was a parked page with James Bond content and links http://web.archive.org/web/20050312000129/http://www.bond.com/ Also the title that claims 'goes for' really implies the domain was sold. You should be more clear and less misleading in your title that it's being offered at that price but it has not sold.

KentuckyFC writes "To do anything useful with quantum logic gates, you need dozens to hundreds of them, all joined together. And because of various errors and problems that creep in, that's more or less impossible with today's technology. Now an Australian group has built and tested logic gates that convert qubits into qutrits (three-level quantum states) before processing and then convert them back again. That makes them far more powerful. The group says that a quantum computer that might require 50 conventional quantum logic gates can now be built with just 9 of the new gates. What's more, the gates process photons using nothing more than standard linear optical components (abstract on the physics arxiv)."

As business grows, it can be a good idea to support your eBay sales with a website. The first step is building a web presence outside of eBay by creating your own website. Building a website is not a difficult task. These days you don't necessarily need the know-how to do it all yourself - there are plenty of people who will do it for you. Turnkey stores are an option, or you can have a designer create the basic design for a website and then purchase shopping cart software separately.

The European Commission said Wednesday that it has approved the proposed acquisition of Santa Monica-based online game publisher Activision by Viviendi S.A. of France. According to the EU, the Commission has concluded that the proposed transaction would not significantly impeded effective competition in Europe. In approving the deal, the EU cited Electronic Arts, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft as strong, effective competitors in the space. The acquisition of Activision by Vivendi--which was first announced in December of last year--is worth $18.9 billion, and will create a new firm called Activision Blizzard. Activision Blizzard will own the popular gaming titles Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, World of Warcraft, Crash Bandicoot, and many other popular game titles.

Quantum matter has long fascinated the science community as many completely new physical phenomena have emerged from this field. Cold quantum matter can be used for applications such as high-precision clocks, which may run only one second behind per three million years! The interest in quantum matter is now spreading to other areas, and new phases of matter are emerging in molecular systems and plasmas.

Bruce Schneier's latest blog entry points out an interesting analysis of how quantum computing will affect public encryption. The author takes a look at some of the mathematics involved with using a quantum computer to run a factoring algorithm, and makes some reasonable assumptions about the technological constraints faced by the developers of the technology. He concludes that while quantum computing could be a threat to modern encryption, it is not the dire emergency some researchers suggest.

The government's inflation-fighting I-bond, issued from May 2008 through October 2008, will earn an annual rate of 4.84 percent. That sounds pretty decent in this time of low rates that are outrun by inflation. But the I-bond's rate is comprised of two components -- a fixed rate that sticks with the bond for its 30-year life, and an earnings rate that's adjusted semi-annually based on inflation.

Activision has asked a judge in California to settle the matter. Legal experts have questioned why Gibson waited so long to complain, especially given the years its worked hand-in-hand with Activision.

In December 2007, entertainment powerhouses Activision and Vivendi announced a merger that would put them atop the heap in the video game business. The combined company, Activision Games, now puts Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, and World of Warcraft -- the number one online multi-player game -- under one roof. The Huffington Post's Willow Bay recently spoke with Activision's Chairman and CEO Bobby Kotick at his Santa Monica office. Among other topics, Kotick sounded off on managing his newly combined company, the future of gaming, and why he thinks the country might be better off with a CEO in the White House.

Semiconductor nanocrystal quantum dots (NQDs) comprise an important class of inorganic fluorophores for applications from optoelectronics to biology. Unfortunately, to date, NQD optical properties (e.g., their efficient and particle-size-tunable photoluminescence) have been susceptible to instabilities at the bulk and single-particle levels. Specifically, ensemble quantum yields (QYs) in emission are dependent upon NQD surface chemistry and chemical environment, while at the single-particle level, NQDs are characterized by significant fluorescence intermittency (blinking) that hinders applications as single-photon light sources for quantum informatics and biolabels for real-time monitoring of single biomolecules. Furthermore, while NQDs are significantly more photostable than their organic dye counterparts, traditional NQDs photobleach ov
