NES Nudity Galore - The JUSTIN BAILEY Conspiracy

Ben Mallahan writes "The debate has raged for years over the origins of the infamous JUSTIN BAILEY code for the original Metroid; but now the truth has finally come out. Brace yourself for the story of the biggest cover-up in video game history ... and a healthy dose of 8-bit nudity!" You've been warned. This short was produced by Ben Makes Movies.com, and I got hooked into watching a few of the other shorts there as well.

Addiction to video games a growing concern

Concern is spreading among parents and mental-health professionals that the exploding popularity of computer and video games has a deeper dark side than simple couch-potato hood. Studies show that 92 percent of children under age 18 play regularly. According to the Media Research Lab at Iowa State University, about 8.5 percent of 8-to-18-year-old gamers can be considered pathologically addicted, and nearly one quarter of young people admit they’ve felt addicted. Little wonder: in February, a team at Stanford University School of Medicine showed that areas of the brain responsible for generating feelings of addiction and reward are activated during game play.

School kids make computer games

Children in Scotland are being taught how to make their own computer games as part of a new way of learning. Some children, who go to school near Aberdeen, actually get to create their own games and then play them during lessons. Part of the reason they’re doing it is to learn the basic skills you need to be a games designer, but they’re also learning about Scottish history. The premise of one such game is to direct William Wallace through a series of “worlds” by answering relevant historical questions.

Grand Theft Auto IV

Well, the fuss has died down, the novelty has worn off and everyone who wanted a copy probably has one by now. So what are we left with? Simply, a fine game that has gripped this gamers attention the same way a decent movie does.

Play Mythos before everyone else! (Mythos)

We're already very much looking forward to Mythos. The prospect of a new Diablo-style PC MMORPG from the actual makers of the actual Diablo is embarassingly drool-inducing in itself, but combined with a free and easy, no-grinding-required philosophy, it could well turn out to be the MMO that it's actually cool to play. What next, Yoshi's Island Turf War: The FPS?

Rumor: Uncharted Movie in the Works?

With its style firmly rooted in old pulp adventure magazines, Uncharted wasn't exactly the most original action-adventure game last year. That didn't stop it from being a hell of a lot of fun, though, and apparently it's not stopping it from making the jump to film, either. Joystiq reports that "a well-placed source" close to the deal has confirmed that the film rights to Naughty Dog's PlayStation 3 action game have been optioned by Atlas Entertainment (not to be confused with Atlus), who have previously produced such films as Three Kings and Fallen.

Why are Xbox 360 HDDs So Expensive?

Maybe after filling your Xbox 360 hard drive, you've looked into buying a bigger model. Whether or not you went through with the painful purchase, there was probably a considerable amount of sticker shock. Stand-alone HDDs are fairly cheap these days, so what's behind the high price for the Xbox 360 models?
