Apple has released a fourth beta of the iPhone SDK, including an updated iPhone firmware and development tools. The latest beta, build 9M2165, is available via the iPhone DevCenter on the ADC website. According to the release notes, there are two major changes in the latest SDK. The iPhone Simulator now includes support for OpenGL ES, so 3D graphics can be rendered in simulation without having to test them directly on iPhone or iPod touch hardware. Also, code signing is now enforced by the iPhone OS, so you must have a valid certificate installed before compiling. Unsigned code will still run in the iPhone Simulator, however.

The Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone deals are coming in thick and fast. Days after Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) announced a 10-country deal to carry the iPhone, and Telecom Italia said it too would sell the device in Italy, comes news that Mexico telecoms firm America Movil will bring the device to its Latin American operations later this year, which includes over a dozen countries. Again, like the Vodafone deal, no mention if this is exclusive or not. Bloomberg reports, however, that Apple’s latest agreement won’t have a significant impact on iPhone sales. Members of the 'iPhone Dev Team' have (supposedly) made use of the recently released SDK to gin up a Beta 2.0 software hack. "Unlike previous hacks, this one isn't specific to the latest firmware version, it exploits the way that Apple designed the iPhone's main bootloader. According to the iPhone Dev Team, the iPhone verifies whether or not firmware code has been signed with an RSA certificate before allowing it to be written to memory. When the iPhone was launched, and even up until the announcement of the new enterprise functionality, many people were skeptical of the iPhone as a business device. 3G iPhones may also be on their way to Belgium this summer. On the heels of reports of a 3G iPhone coming to Italy soon, and echoing earlier reports of an unlocked 3G iPhone appearing in Australia this summer, there's now rumor that a 3G iPhone will be sold in Belgium by the end of June. Belgian mobile phone site astel.be says it has heard rumors that give the time for release anywhere from May through June. According to an internal AT&T memo that Boy Genius Report obtained, the carrier is making very similar preparations for "an exciting new promotion/product launch" right around the one year anniversary of the iPhone in June. AT&T sent a memo to employees discouraging them from taking vacations between June 15 and July 15. The 3G version of the iPhone is expected to launch during that period and AT&T said it expects "heavier than normal customer traffic" in its stores during those four weeks. The memo, however, does not specifically announce the coming of a 3G iPhone.
