Joe Mullin writes "We've discussed Troll Tracker here before — the anonymous blogger who was outed last month as Rick Frenkel, a Cisco lawyer. Since then, two lawyers from the notoriously patent-friendly Eastern District of Texas have filed defamation suits against Frenkel and Cisco, and Frenkel's blog has been shuttered. One of the plaintiffs, a renowned patent judge's son, may have been hunting the anonymous blogger for months. This week Cisco announced new blogging guidelines in response to the Troll Tracker fiasco. The company acknowledged that 'a few Cisco employees used poor judgment' during secret-blog-time, but they're largely standing by their man. Cisco's new rules will prohibit only anonymous blogging by employees about issues for which 'they have responsibilities at Cisco.

Glendale-based Disney Interactive Studios said Monday that it has agreed to acquire Gamestar, an independent video game software firm based in Shangai and Wuhan, China. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Disney Interactive said that Gamestar will provide talent for the firm's global growth plans. Six year old Gamestar provides art and technology for the interactive entertainment industry, and employs more than 90 people. The acquisition is the sixth for Disney Interactive. Disney's other five game studios are Avalanche Software, Fall Line Studio, Propaganda Games, Black Rock Studio, and Junction Point Studios.

According to Oman News: Eng. Sulaiman bin Nasser al Akhzami, Director of combating Pollution Fighting Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs said that the results of the initial survey of the National Programme for Monitoring of Pollutants in the Omani Marine Environment (NPMPE) which was conducted recently by the ministry at a number of regions in the Sultanate have revealed a decline in the Kiryat bitumen pollutants caused by illegal discharge by some cruising ships of wastes in the sea. The results also revealed non-availability of any un natural radioactive pollutants along side the Sultanate's coasts, he said, adding that the current results of the programme disagree with previous results of the organics and heavy metallic pollutants in the Omani Marine environment.

The electronics giant will reap the benefits of its strategy to focus on Bravia liquid-crystal display televisions and the PlayStation 3 game console, as an expected 60% and 170% rise in sales in these respective categories should lift group operating profit to 380 billion ($3.6 billion) yen, the Nikkei newspaper reported Friday without saying where it got the information.
