There are so many different Web titles, it's amazing. I've seen everything from: Webmaster, Webmistress, Web Producer, Web Designer, Web Developer, Web Architect, Web Programmer, and many more. What is your Web job title? I have been a Web Setter, a Web Manager, and a Web Writer, as well as several of the titles listed above. Right now I call myself a Web Developer, Web Designer, or Web Writer, but that could change.

Amazon Launches EC2 For Windows

Seattle-based Amazon Web Services, the web services subsidiary of Amazon.com, said today that it is launching a new product based on Microsoft Windows Server. The firm said the new web services product launches today in a public beta, and gives its users access to Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server. According to Amazon, the new support came as a result of common requests from its AWS customers. Previously, Amazon EC2 customers had to develop their applications using the Linux operating system. The new service will be priced at $0.125 per compute hour. Amazon's EC2 services allow developers to tap into a web-based, "cloud" of virtual computing resources, and is heavily used to scale out Web 2.0 and Internet applications. Among the first customers of the Windows offering are Eli Lilly, Autodesk, and RenderRocket.

Copyright Office Working with Federal Register to Correct Notice Published on October 14 about Proposed Fee Increases

The Copyright Office published a notice of proposed rulemaking in the Federal Register on October 14 to inform the public that it is considering new fees for registration of claims, special services, and Licensing Division services, and that it intends to submit to Congress a schedule of proposed new statutory fees and fees for certain other services. The published notice inadvertently omitted two charts comparing existing and proposed new fees for special services and Licensing Division services. The Federal Register will correct its error and publish a corrected notice as soon as possible. The corrected notice will include a complete schedule of proposed new fees and an updated deadline for submission of comments.

Corrections to Notice on Fee Increases Published in Federal Register; Due Date for Comments Extended

On October 14, 2008, the Copyright Office published a notice of proposed rulemaking in the Federal Register (73 FR 60658) to inform the public that it is considering adoption of new fees for registration of claims, special services, and Licensing Division services and that the Office intends to submit to Congress a schedule of proposed new statutory fees and fees for certain other services. The proposed fees would recover a significant part of the costs to the Office of registering claims and provide full cost recovery for many services provided by the Office that benefit only or primarily the user of that service. The new fees are based on reliable information regarding the costs of providing services and reflect the new electronic processing of most claims that was implemented in the Copyright Office in 2007.
