LHC constitutes benches for next week

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain on Saturday constituted 10 division benches (DBs) and 22 single benches (SBs) for the principal seat at Lahore for the week starting from November 10.

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain announced four Eid holidays for the higher and subordinate judiciary of the province. A three-day holiday announcement, commencing from October 1 to 3, was made in accordance with the notification issued by the Punjab government, while a handout stated that an additional holiday would also be given on October 4. It further added that in lieu of the additional holiday, the LHC office hours would be extended for an hour during workdays from October 6 to 13. staff report

LHC CJ takes notice of lockdown

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Sayed Zahid Hussain has taken strict notice of the locking up of courts in Lahore, Okara and Toba Tek Singh districts and has directed the advocate general (AG) to approach the chief secretary and other officials to take action against those responsible. While presiding over a meeting of the LHC administrative committee, the CJ ordered the AG to ask for explanations from the officials regarding their failure to stop bar members from locking courts when they had already been informed by the LHC registrar about the situation. The CJ also directed all sessions judges concerned to submit reports to the registrar, and directed the media to provide recordings of the incidents to the registrar. staff report

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Sayed Zahid Hussain has taken suo motu notice of an incident in which a pregnant woman was allegedly tortured and dragged on the roads in the Pir Mahal area near Faisalabad.
