Serendipity is a wonderful thing. It is defined, by our beloved Wikipedia, as "an unsought, unintended, or unexpected discovery or occurrence, made by accident and sagacity." So, when you discover something wonderful while looking for something else, you no longer need to attribute it to luck alone and certainly not to dumb luck. The accident may have come from fate, but the sagacity was all you. Now isn't that serendipitous? By the way - and hats off to Wikipedia again - the origin of the term comes from a Persian fairy tale entitled the Three Princesses of Serendip via Horace Walpole, the English writer and fourth Earl of Oxford. Apparently Walpole once read the "silly fairy tale," as he described it in a 1754 letter to Sir Horace Mann, and was charmed by how the three royal ladies kept discovering things they were not seeking, mainly b

You spent more time writing about midfield conversations rather than writing about the wonderful game of cricket that i watched yesterday. The bowling from the Indian team was excellent and every ball was perfect. Zaheer and Ishant produced some wonderful reverse swing when everyone said it is a flat batting pitch. Harbhajan and Mishra turned the ball as if it is a fifth day wicket. Only Watson showed some good quality in batting under huge pressure.

"To do the same tasks in Windows, you often need to download and then install bloated software, only to slow down your computer. The chances of malware or spyware coming with those software as bonus are also there. Linux Terminal is a powerful tool and many difficult tasks can be easily done with a single line command. No need to search Internet for software, no need to install bloated software, and no need to spend your pennies."

Hello, so welcome to my Blog. And this is my first sojourn into the world of Blogs so forgive me if it all goes horribly wrong . I never was one for a diary or journal before, although there was a memorable period when I was 9 when a frantic burst of enthusiasm resulted in 2 weeks’ worth of postings in a diary. Fascinating reading it was: Monday, got up, went to school, came home, watched TV, went to bed. Tuesday, got up, went to school, came home, watched TV, went to bed, Wednesday got up, went to school, came home, created plan for global domination, watched TV, went to bed. I’d like to set expectations low, this is going to be an occasional thing. Less is more, hopefully.

On one hand. robots have come a long, long way in the last 25 years. On the other, 3/4 of the Gizmodo staff is still wiping their own butt. Regardless, Carnegie Mellon is hosting an excellent gallery documenting 25 years of their Field Robotics Center robots. This guy, called the "Terragator," was built in 1984 to navigate roads and map mines. And if you like him, there are plenty of others on CM's site, each packing a palatable one-sentence description. So hit up the link for more robot fun. [The Field Robotics Center via bbGadgets]

Sesame Street, the wonderful children's show that basically everybody grew up on, is coming to the web. Soon, you'll be able to access full episodes from season 35 of the show on iTunes, with about 100 clips coming to both Hulu and YouTube. I'm hoping there will be a nice combo of new stuff for today's kids with retro clips for big kids like me to relive my childhood. Big Bird! Snuffy! Oscar the Grouch! You're never too old for Sesame Street. [Reuters]
