The last time interest rates were at three per cent, Winston Churchill was nearing the end of his second term as prime minister. Not since 1981 has there been a cut of 1.5 percentage points, and the cost of borrowing then was 12 per cent. By any historical measure, therefore, the action by the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England was as dramatic as it was welcome. The MPC said it was occasioned by "a substantial downward shift in the prospects for inflation in the United Kingdom" and "a very marked deterioration in the outlook for economic activity at home and abroad".

Welcome to Arts & Architecture. In the case of some, maybe, welcome back...Old-timer. On this website you will find selected projects from issues of the magazine 1945 through 1967. The internet publication of A&A is made possible by Benedikt Taschen and his eponymous publishing house, which is reissuing the magazine in book form in the Fall of 2008. This website will, I hope, lead the visitor to the book.

"Is it me, or is gaming relying more and more on social media networks? Time was, gaming was this dirty, solitary habit you did in your mom's basement or in a darkened corner of your dad's study. You didn't talk about it, you didn't brag about it, and (even if you wanted to), you couldn't show off your gaming accomplishments."

As you probably have noticed, we just re-launched our blog today as The Windows Blog sporting an all-new look and feel reflecting Windows in a broader sense instead of a single Windows release. We figured it was time to give our blog a good facelift (it’s looked the same since we originally launched in October of 2006) – especially as we start talking about Windows 7, Windows Live, and many other interesting Windows topics. Our old design focused strictly on Windows Vista. Our new design is no longer tied to a specific Windows release allowing us to talk about a wider range of topics.

In the financial crash, we are seeing two forces at work: first, a corrupt system of unregulated leverage gone mad — virtual value (which is to say, bullsh*t) created in derivatives — but second, a world whose fundamental structure is changing in ways we can’t yet fully fathom.

In 1965, Gordon Moore, then the Chairman of Intel, observed that every 18 months or so Intel and other semiconductor companies had managed to put roughly twice as many transistors on a chip. That annual boost both accelerated chip performance--improving existing applications and enabling new ones--and required ongoing improvements in chip design and manufacturing.

The basic idea was to transform the one-person blog into an online magazine with more writers, more content and more input from you. Nintendo has released the details on a new and improved Nintendo DS, called the Nintendo DSi. This new unit has superior sound quality then the previous edition along with the added functionality of a 3 megapixel camera. Adding a camera quickly gives gamers a good reason to upgrade from their now old DS Lite. The only drawback to the new DS model is that the Game Boy Advance slot has been removed from the unit in order to slim down the system.
