I have just loved watching the audition shows! The best part about watching them has been remembering all the fantastic dancers from across the country. Sometimes I was outside shooting and would miss certain dancers, so it's been amazing to actually get a chance to see them all.

Ant writes "The Telegraph reports that people over 55 who were brought up watching a monochrome TV set are more likely to dream in black and white, even years later. New research suggests that the type of television you watched as a child has a profound effect on the color of your dreams. While almost all under-25s dream in color, many over-55s, all of whom were brought up with B&W sets, often still dream in monochrome. The study, out ot Dundee University, used a small number of subjects under 25 or over 55 and the results suggest that '... there could be a critical period in our childhood when watching films has a big impact on the way dreams are formed... [B]efore the advent of black and white television all the evidence suggests we were dreaming in color.

I am a long time fan of Cheech and Chong. Ever since the 1970's I have been watching them and cracking up to their antics. I was just a kid then, but my parents were pretty open minded and let me watch a lot of things I probably shouldn't have been watching, Cheech and Chong was just one of those things. Now they're on MySpace.

At 10.28 am on 10 September, the first beam made the full 27 km journey around the LHC, travelling in a clockwise direction. Cheers and applause filled the CERN Control Centre (CCC) as two spots appeared on the screen, indicating that the beam had completed the full circle, from injection at Point 2 round to the same point. The emotion was echoed around CERN where staff and users had been watching events unfold via screens in the main auditorium and elsewhere, as well as in the control rooms of the LHC experiments. Also keenly watching the action were some 250 journalists attending the event, many in the Globe of Science and Innovation.

The commercial spaceflight company Space X successfully launched its Falcon 1 unmanned booster, becoming the first private company to send a rocket into orbit. The two-stage rocket lifted off at 7:16 p.m. EDT (23:16 GMT) from the the launch site on the Kwajalein Atoll in the about 2,500 miles (4,023 km) southwest of Hawaii. This successful launch comes almost two months after an engine timing error during stage separation caused the failure of Space X's third Falcon 1 test. If you missed watching the live webcast, below is the video. Watching the live webcast was wonderful; the people who actually built this rocket could be heard cheering in the background as each milestone in the climb to orbit was reached. Congratulations to everyone at Space X!

Toward the end of Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling,” in what is perhaps the only lighthearted scene in this rigorously somber film, Christine Collins, the heroine, is invited by some of her phone company co-workers, and then by her boss, to go out on the town and listen to the Academy Awards radio broadcast. The year is 1935, and “It Happened One Night” is Christine’s pick for best picture, but it’s hard to avoid interpreting this moment as a none-too-subtle wink directed at present-day moviegoers and Academy voters. Christine begs off — she just has too much work — and it goes without saying that on Feb. 22, Angelina Jolie, who plays her, will have to make similar excuses. She won’t be watching the Oscars with the likes of us; we’ll be watching her.

farkinga writes "For those of us that no longer have a television, live TV events can be a challenge to watch. Fortunately, tonight's Presidential Debate has attracted the attention of most US broadcasters, many of whom will provide online viewing options. Leading the way is Hulu, a joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corp, who will stream the Fox-branded feed tonight — assuming they worked out the bandwidth issues that came up during the second debate!"
