LG Display intros privacy protection notebook LCDs LG Display on Monday announced it has developed a 14.1-inch LCD panel for notebook computers that can change its horizontal viewing angle from 175 degrees to 60 degrees with an adjustable control. Called Viewing-angle Image Control (VIC) display technology, the innovation gives users greater privacy without the need to use any plastic filters. According to an LG Display executive, reducing the viewing angle does not have a significant affect on screen brightness.

Lextech Labs has introduced iRa, a remote surveillance viewing and control application for the iPhone or iPod touch. The app goes beyond the simple video feed function by allowing full control over pan, tilt, and zoom (PTZ) functions of monitoring equipment. Users can define groups of cameras containing an unlimited number of feeds even across several geographic locations. The camera views can be tiled across the screen and then switched to a single camera by touching the appropriate feed.

Internet Movie Database is offering free viewing of movies and TV shows at imdb.com. Imdb, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, is also allowing filmmakers and rights holders to upload content for viewing. VIZIO announced on Monday it has shipped its VO-series 1080p HDTVs, including the newly styled 32-inch VOJ320F and 37-inch VOJ370F as well as the 32-inch VO32LF-32 and 37-inch VO37LF-37 with more traditional styling. The VOJ models are the first in VIZIO's line-up to feature the Java-colored bezel accents and redesigned stand and cabinet. Parts I and II of this series covered covered the "planetarium" programs KStars and XEphem. They can answer pretty much any question about what's where and when in the night sky. Sony Electronics is announcing a single-projector 3D adapter designed to work specifically with its 4K projectors in movie theaters. The new adapter uses the full height of Sony’s 4K imaging device, with the ability to display full 2K images for the left and right eye simultaneously and in parallel, from top and bottom. The new lens units, models LKRL-A002 (X1.1 -1.9) and LKRL-A003 (X1.9 - 3.3), consists of an optical and mechanical assembly for each left and right eye image. It is designed to meet DCI specifications for 3D digital projection, while overcoming the bandwidth and resolution limitations of currently available 3D systems.
