Griffin has announced updated versions of their TuneBuds Mobile and SmartTalk products for both versions of the iPhone, the iPod nano 4G, iPod touch 2G, and iPod classic (120 GB). TuneBuds are intended to be an alternative to Apple's upcoming premium in-ear headphones—both offer a built-in microphone and remote for answering calls and controlling playback, although Griffin's version costs considerably less at $40 (but that is without the dual drivers). Or, if you prefer, Griffin's updated SmartTalk accessory will give you the microphone and remote functionality with your current earbuds for only $20.

Apple now has all four major TV networks on board to sell high-definition versions of their prime-time programming via iTunes. HD shows will cost $1 more than the $1.99 standard-def versions. iTunes and other pay-to-play download services represent one end of the TV-via-the-Web spectrum; at the other stand free sites, like Hulu, that include advertisements.

Not only was I lucky enough to get my hands on some of the Street Fighter IV arcade machines scattered around Tokyo, but today I managed to play the Xbox 360 version at TGS. I didn't notice any key differences between the two versions, perhaps the arcade was a little faster and less smooth. Both versions are HD and they both look great and had no content differences as far as I could ascertain (note: I can't read Japanese, though, so there could be some minor variances). Fans of the series will be pleased to know that of course Ken and Ryu's Hadouken and other moves are present, as well as all the other famous moves in the series. I found it harder to pull of the moves than on my SNES pad, but that's likely due to lack of practice. There is also a 'super' bar along the bottom of the screen, which seems to build up to some kind of special.

arcticstoat writes "Microsoft has said that it plans to remove a lot of the standard apps from Windows 7 in order to make the new OS 'cleaner.' Among the apps for the chop are Windows Mail, Windows Photo Gallery and Windows Movie Maker, which will no longer be included with the operating system as standard. Instead, equivalent versions of the apps will be available from Microsoft's Windows Live download service as optional free downloads, much like the new BETA versions of the apps that Windows Live offers today." Meanwhile, jammag writes that "tech pundit Mike Elgan posits that the rushed-to-market Windows 7 — due in 2010, now being beta released this October — may in fact merely be Vista with new packaging.

If you launch Software Update, you'll likely notice that Apple has some Java updates for both Tiger and Leopard. On the Tiger side, Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 7 updates Java 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0 (also known as Java 1.5—does Sun contract Microsoft for their product names?) and Java 1.4 to the latest versions. For Lepoard, Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 2 updates J2SE 5 and J2SE 1.4.2 to the latest versions. And if you are running a 64-bit capable Intel processor, you'll also get the latest version of Java SE 6.
