Google Falls off Most Trusted Companies List

According to a recent poll taken by the Ponemon Institute and TRUSTe in San Francisco, Google has fallen off the most trust companies list along with Countrywide Financial, Bank of America and Weight Watchers.

Google has disappeared from the Top 20 list of companies trusted with privacy in TRUSTe’s fifth annual survey.

Verizon Cites Survey on Consumer Privacy Trustworthiness

Verizon ranks among the top U.S. companies most trusted to protect customer privacy, according to a new study by Ponemon Institute and TRUSTe, the online privacy evaluator. The survey asked nearly 6,500 adult U.S. consumers which companies they thought were most trustworthy and which did the best job safeguarding personal information. Verizon is the highest-ranked communications company for being the most trustworthy and for doing the best job safeguarding personal information.

Google drops off most trusted companies list

Looks like users are beginning to call into question Google and it's motto of "Do No Evil." Google is no longer considered one of the U.S.'s most trusted companies for privacy, according to an annual list compiled by the Ponemon Institute and Truste. While Google came in at No. 10 last year, it's dropped off the list completely this year. But what's surprising is that it was ever on the list to begin with.

AmEx, eBay, IBM Most Trusted for Privacy

American Express, eBay and IBM were rated the top three most trusted companies for privacy in '08, at a time when identity theft is top-of-mind and consumers are more concerned than ever about losing control of personal information, according to annual rankings from Ponemon Institute and TRUSTe.
