(RTTNews) - Thursday, financial service provider Toronto-Dominion Bank Financial Group (TD, TD.TO), reported a marginal decline in fourth-quarter earnings, as illiquid and volatile markets affected the performance of its Wholesale Banking segment, which posted a loss primarily due to mark-to-market losses in the credit trading business. The bank also declared a quarterly divided of 61 cents per share. In a separate development, Toronto-Dominion announced the appointment of Brian Levitt to its Board of Directors.

TORONTO, Dec 24 (Reuters) - The Bank of Canada is leaving C$2.35 billion ($1.94 billion) in the Large Value Transfer System on Wednesday and plans to leave C$25 million in the system on Dec. 29, the central bank announced. Under normal circumstances it targets a balance of C$25 million in the system to allow easy settlement of balances between banks, but since the credit crunch hit in August 2007 it has often set its sights much higher. UPDATE 1-Royal Bank of Canada to offer C$2.3 bln in stock

TORONTO, Dec 8 (Reuters) - Royal Bank of Canada said on Monday it plans to issue up to C$2.3 billion ($1.8 billion) in common shares to bolster its regulatory capital ratio, in what would be the second-largest stock sale by a Canadian bank this year. Royal Bank, Canada's largest bank, said after markets closed that it would issue 56.75 million common shares at C$35.25 a share, for proceeds of C$2 billion. An over-allotment option to the underwriting syndicate could push the total to C$2.3 billion. The offering is expected to close on Dec. 22. RBC shares closed at C$37.50 a share on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Monday, up 3 percent. RBC's Tier 1 ratio was 9.0 percent and 'it seems like the market wants more,' said Ohad Lederer, an analyst at Veritas Investment Research in Toronto, adding that the RBC share issue could herald similar fund
