Sony’s nifty Reader Digital Book had one drawback when it launched in Canada in April of this year: it was only compatible with eBooks sold through Sony’s own Website, which included a healthy, albeit not overwhelming, list of 40,000 titles. With the next-generation version and software update, however, the Digital Book will carry support for the EPUB International Digital Publishing Forum’s XM-based standard format, opening it up to tons more titles.
