NORWALK, Conn.--(Business Wire)-- Still need an airline ticket home for the holidays? Book it at priceline.com and, in most cases, you’ll pay less than the same ticket would cost on Expedia, Travelocity and Orbitz. That’s because priceline.com is the only one of the “Big Four” online travel services that doesn’t charge booking fees on its published-price domestic and international fares. On the other sites, booking fees can range from approximately $7 for a domestic ticket, to as much as $15 for an international ticket. For a family of four, that can amount to savings of $28 to $60. And here’s more good news. Priceline.com said today that, depending on travel dates and itineraries, some December airfares are down as much as 10 percent compared to last year.

Facing falloffs in ticket sales and donations, the Baltimore Opera Company was expected to file for bankruptcy protection on Tuesday, The Baltimore Sun reported. The company, which has been in operation for 58 years, has canceled its two remaining productions of the season, “Porgy and Bess” and “The Barber of Seville,” and has released its singers from their contracts, but plans to continue fundraising efforts. In October, The Sun reported, a shortfall of more than $200,000 in ticket sales for the company’s season-opening production of “Aida” led to a significant shortage of cash; last month, a board member had to guarantee performers’ salaries for a production of Bellini’s “Norma.” In a statement cited by The Sun, the company’s board said it was pursuing these steps “in order to preserve one of the region’s mo

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Railways have introduced SMS facility in collaboration with Google to know the reservation status of the train ticket and details of trains. The commuter has to just write down the 10-digit PNR number of the train ticket and send that text message to 9773300000. All this comes just at the cost of an SMS. Along with this, details of trains to a particular destination will be available by sending SMS ‘Trains to…’ to the same 10-digit mobile number. Once ‘Trains to Thiruvananthapuram’ is typed the entire list of trains to the State capital will be provided. — Staff Reporter
