Wi-LAN to drop TI in patent suit

Wi-LAN Inc. has announced that Texas Instruments Inc. will be dismissed from Wi-LAN's legal action No. 2:07-cv-474 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The parties have also consented not to take any further proceedings against each other with respect to the Wi-LAN patents at issue in that action, for an agreed period of time. Despite this agreement, Wi-LAN will still have the right to seek damages from, or bring a future lawsuit against, TI for infringement of these patents.

Linux SDKs target Cortex-A8 SoCs

Linux development specialist RidgeRun announced the availability of embedded software development kits (SDKs) and engineering support services for the Texas Instruments (TI) OMAP35x line of systems-on-chips (SoCs). The SDKs offer Linux kernels and drivers, plus reference applications and libraries, and come in Free and Developer's versions, says the TI-focused company.

Nick writes "A few weeks ago a video of a talk given by Adam Savage of the television show MythBusters spread across the internet (including a mention on Slashdot.) On the video, Savage stated that the show was unable to produce an episode about previously known RFID vulnerabilities due to a conference call to Texas Instruments that unexpectedly included several credit card companies' legal counsel. TI (via a spokesperson talking with cnet.com) stated that only one lawyer was on the call and that the majority of the people on the call were product managers from the Smart Card Alliance (SCA) invited by TI to speak.
