One of the biggest questions that occupy particle physicists and cosmologists alike is: what is dark matter? We know that a tiny fraction of the mass of the universe is the visible stuff we can see, but 23% of the Universe is made from stuff that we cannot see. The remaining mass is held in something called dark energy. But going back to the dark matter question, cosmologists believe their observations indicate the presence of dark matter, and particle physicists believe the bulk of this matter could be held in quantum particles. This trail leads to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) where the very small meets the very big, hopefully explaining what particles could be generated after harnessing the huge energies possible with the LHC…

For this week's Photoshop Contest, I want you guys to go crazy with Google's Chrome comic. The 4chan folks have already done some stuff with it, now its your turn. Feel free to go beyond just swapping the words out. Insert photos, put panels together that don't belong together, make it as insane as humanly possible. There are tons of pages of source material, and I'm positive that you'll come up with some hilarious and probably-unsettling stuff.

Lauren ConradYou ever think that ’stars’ are completely different from the rest of us? And then you’re like, “hey, you know, I bet that Brad Garrett from Everybody Love Raymond occasionally eats, sleeps, and excretes. And he’s a pretty big star. Do you think other stars have to do the gross stuff that we peasants do?” And then you read on Digital Spy about Lauren Conrad googling dates and you’re like, “Damn, I do that. I might have to start watching this The Hills program. Maybe they’re doing some other awesome stuff I should get into, like kickboxing.”

Thomas Matysik writes "I'm attempting to de-clutter my house and I've hit a rough patch: the computer room. I've got a bunch of wires, hardware and software that (I think) were useful at one point in time, but these days it doesn't do much more than take up space. Selling it seems like it'd be a huge hassle and it seems really wasteful for me to just pitch all of this stuff in the dumpster. I've considered giving it away to Goodwill, but I'm afraid that's not the right sort of outlet for this stuff. My question: what should I do with all of my tech junk?"

Nanoscience, or nanotechnology, is science or technology that creates functional materials from atomic particles. Once considered to be little more than science fiction, nanotechnology is now a well-established field, as evidenced by various new journals and federally funded research programs, as well as myriad new products ranging from industrial materials to cosmetics. According to the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies (PEN), more than $60 billion in nanorelated products were sold in 2007, and this number could more than double by the end of 2008. Estimates are that by 2014, more than 15 percent of all products on the global market will have some kind of nanotechnology incorporated into their manufacturing process.

How's this for a Web tutorial? Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that your crazy ex-wife is trying to get you to pay child support for a kid you never fathered. What's your recourse? Photoshop of course! Use it to make a picture for your ex to let her know she's nuts. At least that's one of the skills Donnie, the main character in MyDamnChannel.com's popular Web series, "You Suck at Photoshop," teaches in the first episode of the second season. The first episode of the new season returned to My Damn Channel on June 27 and had amassed more than 366,000 views by late July.

I've had to try and hit the ground running because I really needed this PDA, so I'm trying to learn as I go, short on time. I don't need the Wi-Fi big time yet, but it WILL help down the road, SO: When I first acquired this Axim the WLAN utility was up and running (just not with my home network, I'll get to that.) But now status bar says the driver is not loaded. It's out of warranty, says previous owner, and the driver is not on list at support.dell.com. Anyone know where I can get the driver? I checked here, don't see it.
