Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 24, 2008 -- Peekacity.com, Chicago's leader in web-based amenity mapping software for the real estate industry, is the first real estate amenity mapping software to add Google's Street View. Agents and online real estate consumers now have the ability to view street level photos of properties. They may zoom in for detail and "virtually" drive up and down the street to visualize the surrounding homes and the neighborhood. By simply clicking on the amenity or property and selecting "Open" next to the "Street View" tag, the Street View of the selected object will be displayed. Users navigate around the area using their mouse within the display.

Google Street View is both a blessing and a curse. For those of us who get lost easily, being able to see an actual photograph of your destination before leaving the house can be immensely helpful. For others, the prospect of having everything photographed from the street—including possibly themselves—is very creepy. The European Union agrees with the latter folks, and feels strongly that Google Street View—as implemented now in the US—would be a violation of EU privacy laws. That's why the organization reminded Google this week to respect local privacy laws once Street View makes its jump across the pond.

alphadogg recommends an article about the rise of Linux on Wall Street. We discussed the beginnings of this trend last year. From NetworkWorld: "Wall Street firms increasingly are buying into Linux, but some still need convincing that open source licensing and support models won't make using the technology more trouble than its worth. Linux providers, speaking this week at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association conference in New York City, stated their cases that Wall Street firms have nothing to fear about diving into open source. Red Hat and Novell argued that's especially true now that specialized Real Time Linux has been developed that meets strict low-latency and messaging requirements of brokerages and trading firms.

EU warns Google over Street View Google Maps’ Street View has become popular among drivers but courted controversy when it was found that the photos often displayed individuals on the street and inside buildings. Though many in the US have complained over potential privacy issues, no legal measures have been taken against it as it is considered to be in accordance with the law.

Kotaku writes: "Starting July 18th, Street Fighter IV will be playable in Japanese arcades. To save your arcade achievements, the game will use Taito's NESYS Card System. (Makes sense as the game runs on the Taito Type X2 arcade system board!) The NESYS Card will come in four patterns, all of which are pictured. This saved player data contains the player name that appears on-screen in versus mode. The player data can also be accessed individual cell phone SFIV player webpages, which feature stats and ranking as well as news about SFIV events. Via the cell phone site, it's possible to create and name SFIV guilds. Players can then collect "guild points" and compete with other SFIV guilds to improve their ranking to boot!"

It's a sad day for Street Fighter fans who own Nintendo's consoles, as Capcom have officially announced that Street Fighter IV will initially only be heading to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Capcom would be mad to completely ignore the two most successful consoles on the market, so a different veresion for the Wii and/or DS wouldn't be completely out of the question.
