MGO's New Expansion

October 6, 2008 - Earlier today, Konami announced that the latest expansion to Metal Gear Online, the MEME Expansion, would be released soon through the Metal Gear Online shop. While only a few details were included in their press release, it was noted that three new maps will be included in the title. The first is called Silo Sunset, and is a remake of the MGS: Portable Ops stage for Metal Gear Online. The second is called Forest Firefight, and is a dense jungle stage pulled from MGS3 that focuses on camouflage. Finally, Winter Warehouse is a brand new stage created for Metal Gear Online that is set in a decaying factory.

Automattic Acquires IntenseDebate

At TechStars investor and demo day Tuesday, Tom Keller, CEO of IntenseDebate, went on stage and told the audience that he didn't have any slides, nor was he looking for money. But he did say he had a surprise for everyone. That surprise was Automattic CEO Toni Schneider. Automattic runs the Web blogging service WordPress. On stage, Toni and Tom announced that Automattic acquired IntenseDebate for an undisclosed amount. I heard IntenseDebate raised about $300,000.

Space X Falcon 1 Successfully In Orbit

The commercial spaceflight company Space X successfully launched its Falcon 1 unmanned booster, becoming the first private company to send a rocket into orbit. The two-stage rocket lifted off at 7:16 p.m. EDT (23:16 GMT) from the the launch site on the Kwajalein Atoll in the about 2,500 miles (4,023 km) southwest of Hawaii. This successful launch comes almost two months after an engine timing error during stage separation caused the failure of Space X's third Falcon 1 test. If you missed watching the live webcast, below is the video. Watching the live webcast was wonderful; the people who actually built this rocket could be heard cheering in the background as each milestone in the climb to orbit was reached. More Windows 7 M3 Build 6780 screen shots

Zhou's Blue website has published a bundle of Windows 7 Milestone 3 Build 6780 screen shots, with a video to come. The appearance is what you'd expect at this stage: it looks like Vista. If Microsoft does decide to freshen it up a bit, that will probably come at the beta 2 stage. However, while Vista's user interface has a few inconsistencies and could, in some places, do with a polish, it works well as it is.

Korea Delays Space Launch

Ashlynne9423 writes to tell us that South Korea has announced a delay to their first space launch. Holding off until the second quarter of 2009, the delays are being blamed in part on late delivery of the Russian-designed launch pad and ground equipment. "The Korea Space Launch Vehicle (KSLV) is intended to be the first space craft to reach orbit from a launch site in Korea. The two stage KSLV-1 is being developed by Korea with Russian assistance. The lower first stage of the craft is built in Russia, based on the Angara rocket design."
