It's been a while since we mentioned the iDog from Tiger/Hasbro, because it was basically a dog that'd had its day: Until now that is, when Tiger have removed one of the toy's problems by adding cuddliness. It still has a speaker and does the same LED-flashing face and wiggling in reaction to your music, but it's now got a plush body just like your teddybear, so you can, er... snuggle up to its writhing body? Hmmm. Anyway, the iDog Soft Speaker is out now for about $35. [Hasbro via Dvice]

A speaker system is an essential part of any multimedia experience and picking one that could satisfy your ear is certainly a tough one. So, this week, Tech Times features two speaker systems that we think would eventually give you a short list: the Philips HTS6515—a virtual 5.1 surround sound home theater system that uses only a 2.1 setup and the Altec Lansing VS2521, a speaker system for your desktop PC.

Back in the days before the iPod was even a glint in anyone's eye, the Boombox was the height of fashion. Despite being ugly, power hungry and pretty large, Boomboxes could be carried around, pumping out tunes on streets, in parks, at picnics and parties. With the advent of iPods, the Boombox pretty much fell by the way side, but now the past has been reinvented with this cardboard ipod speaker dock in Boombox style.

Yes, another iPhone/iPod touch dock speaker that looks like the iPhone or iPod touch. But the Logic3 i-Station is not any dock because, grab onto your underpants, it can rotate. Rotate. Ro-ta-te, people, so you don't have to "strain your neck," like the press release says. You don't believe me? I'm not surprised. Check out the explicatory diagram by yourself.

It may seem a little strange, but gifting teddy bears to adults is still a time honored tradition. If cute and cuddly isn't your style, a somewhat less emasculating option can be found with this Tuned Bear iPod speaker. The bear can be turned on and off by pressing on his ear and the volume can be adjusted by squeezing the appropriate paw. It's far more functional than your average bear but, alas, it is only available in Japan at the moment. On the other hand, mini vinyl Headphonies might even be a better option—and those are slated to be released at the end of the month. [Rakuten via Technabob]

Just unveiled at Tokyo Designer's Week, EOps i24R3 is probably the best-looking speaker system for the iPod/iPhone I think I've seen. Plus it's jammed-full of wirelessness, so the iPod-dock, woofer-equipped base station is paired with two or more (up to eight) remote stereo speakers. And in the true spirit of iPhoneness it's gesture controlled— touch-free gestures too: you just wiggle your hand in front of the base station and control volume and equalizer functions.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court invoked the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) on Monday, acquitting former National Assembly deputy speaker Haji Nawaz Khokhar from imprisonment and fines that had been sanctioned earlier by an accountability court. Khokhar’s counsel, Manzoor Malik, had filed an application seeking his acquittal. Malik said that after the promulgation of the NRO 2007, Khokhar’s sentence should be set aside. The court had sentenced Khokhar to three years’ imprisonment with a fine of Rs 1.89 million on June 15, 2004. The court had also prohibited Khokhar from contesting in elections, holding any public office or obtaining loans from any bank for 10 years. He was accused of evading Rawalpindi’s Sihala and Kural union council fees amounting to Rs 1.
