The UnScene Photography Tour and 944 Magazine are looking for San Diego's and Scottsdale's emerging photographers and "unscene" images of their cities. During special one-night-only gallery events at the W San Diego and the Mondrian Scottsdale, five finalists from each city will showcase 10 of their best shots while competing for a chance to make it to the finals. Readers of 944 Magazine will have the opportunity to cast online votes for their favorite San Diego and Scottsdale photographers. The lucky finalists will compete next spring in the Grand Finale event taking place in Los Angeles where they will face off against five other finalists in a showdown for a national spread in 944 Magazine. All works will be on sale during the hotel gallery events with proceeds benefiting San Diego and Scottsdale charities.

The Bay Area will be partnering with Better Place to create an essential electric vehicle infrastructure, marking a huge step towards the acceptance of electric vehicles as a viable alternative to those that run on fossil fuels." Inhabitat.com has some conceptual illustrations and a map showing EV infrastructure, such as battery exchange stations, stretching from Sacramento to San Diego — though this is far more extensive than the Bay Area program actually announced, which alone is estimated to cost $1 billion.
