Software Application Vendor Openbravo Secures $12m in the Largest Ever Round for Open Source ERP

PAMPLONA, Spain & CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 19, 2008--Openbravo, the leading developer of web-based open source Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Point-of-Sale (PoS) solutions has received $12m of second round funding to back its next stage of growth. The round was led by Amadeus Capital Partners, the European technology investor, and GIMV, a leading European private equity and venture capital provider. Adara Venture Partners, an investor in globally-oriented ICT ventures that address Spain and related markets, has also participated in the round.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Software Freedom Law Center Files Another Round of GPL Violation Lawsuits on Behalf of BusyBox Developers NEW YORK, June 10, 2008 -- The Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC) today announced that it has filed two more copyright infringement lawsuits, on behalf of two principal developers of BusyBox, alleging violation of the GNU General Public License (GPL). The defendants in this new round of lawsuits are Bell Microproducts, Inc. and Super Micro Computer, Inc. BusyBox is a lightweight set of standard Unix utilities commonly used in embedded systems and is open source software licensed under GPL version 2. One of the conditions of the GPL is that re-distributors of BusyBox are required to ensure that each downstream recipient is provided access to the source code of the program.

Pinch Media Gets First Round For iPhone Developer Tools

Pinch Media, a newly launched startup offering iPhone developer tools, has raised an unspecified seed round from from Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital and angels including Dave Morgan, Jerry Neumann, Mike Yavonditte, and Sharkey Goldstein Capital. NYC-based Pinch has launched an analytics service designed to give developers a better understanding of how their apps are being used on the device. BlogHer Gets $5 Million Second Round From Peacock Equity; Partnership With iVillage

imageBlogHer, the womens ad network, blogging community site and conference organizer, has raised a $5 million second round lead by the Peacock Equity Fund (GE and NBCU), along with past backer Venrock. The company raised an initial round of funding from Venrock last summer. Along with the deal, the company has entered into a strategic partnership with NBCU-owned iVillage, which will give the site access to BlogHer content, as well as promotional opportunities across the BlogHer network.
