iPhone 3G launch is a dismal failure in India

ImageApple launched iPhone in India, a country with only 1.2 billion people and overall not considered rich like their counterparts in USA. In USA Apple launched iPhone for $199 only. Steve Jobbs also promised that it will be similalry priced across all markets. So how did they target a market of 1.2 B with a very high mobile pernetration and nowhere as rich as USA? By pricing iPhone 3G at 4 times the US price at Rs. 31, 000 only (and lockdown for a year to the service provider) and without 3G. Imagine how the market reacted…

Apple's Tight Rein On iPhone App Store To Boost Nokia?

In the last two weeks, Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) has pulled three applications from its stores: the $999-joke app “I Am Rich;” Box Office, which lets users look up movies and buy tickets; and NetShare, an application that turns the phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot. Tech's high rollers scoff at Wall Street

The rest of the world might be on the verge of economic meltdown, but that's not enough to swipe the grin off the faces of Silicon Valley's rich and powerful. Google boss Eric Schmidt says that it's well protected from the madness on Wall Street. "The company has a very large amount of cash in very, very boring and secure investments," he said at the Zeitgeist press event yesterday. "As a company, we're fine." Even Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's enfant terrible, seems to be riding out the financial storm - he's just appeared on the Forbes 400. The rich list values him at $1.5bn - even if it's largely theoretical cash.
