George OrwellThe Orwell Prize is publishing the diaries of George Orwell in blog format, 70 years after they were written. It should be a fascinating way to follow his progress as a writer and essayist. By picking blogging as a way to revisit the works, it's similar to Samuel Pepys' diary - a day-by-day blog of the 17th century which was started more than five years ago by Phil Gyford, and is still going strong. Are there any other diary blogs out there?

A few months ago I wrote a column about mosaic tiles. There is a resurgence of interest in this ancient art form; we are seeing stunning mosaic work decorating bathrooms, kitchen backsplashes and floors. The number of enthusiastic responses I received via e-mail prompted me to revisit the topic.

The Ministry of Finance has objected to the telecom ministry’s move to charge 1 per cent additional revenue from the successful bidder for 3G spectrum saying it may lead to deliberate suppression of revenues. The ministry has also sought the setting up of a group with representation from the Department of Economic Affairs to revisit the proposal.

This Diwali, why don't you change the way your home looks? Try some butterflies fluttering on the floor or a few sinful black mirrors shimmering in the black-cemented floor at your new bar or a subtle gray-toned jacuzzi embolden with multi-hued marble chips for the bathroom. In vogue now maybe, but nothing new to humankind. It's time to revisit terrazzo. In its comeback and trendy avatar, the ancient mosaic flooring, which originated as a simple mix of stone chips bound by cement, has travelled from the veranda of your ancestral home to the living room in the apartment you just shifted into.

SYDNEY, Aug 27, (AFP): Australians on Wednesday marked the centenary of their greatest sporting hero, cricketer Don Bradman, by celebrating the fact his unbeaten record is still untouchable 60 years after he quit the sport. Bradman, who died in 2001 aged 92, played his last match in England in 1948 and retired with a yet-to-be topped Test batting average of 99.94. Australian media used the occasion to revisit the legend of the “Boy from Bowral” whose run-scoring feats lifted the hopes of the country during the Depression and inspired generations of athletes to come. Newspapers splashed images of the small-statured batsman across their pages while television bulletins re-broadcast rare snippets from interviews with “The Don”, who loathed his celebrity.

"So far, our application, aggroGator, allows a user to mash up several popular Web services and create an aggregate feed of those services. Now, to make things a little more interesting, we want to allow users to subscribe to other users' feeds (where each user's feed is quite possibly an aggregate of feeds itself.) For example, let's say we want to set up an account to subscribe to ourself on Twitter, last.fm, and del.icio.us, so friends can then subscribe to our aggroGator feed to see all of the activity on those services. To handle this, we need to once again revisit our data model."
