John Donahoe3.jpgeBay's (EBAY) core business continues to fall apart. Some of the decline is likely the result of the declining economy. The rest of it is likely the result of the trends that have been clobbering eBay for the past two years: competition, overpricing, and the deterioration of eBay's value proposition. eBay's efforts to turn around this business do not appear to be working.

An anonymous reader writes "You may have heard that it takes about seven shuffles to mix up a deck of cards to near randomness. Turns out, though, that most of the time, perfect randomness is more than you need. In blackjack, for example, you don't care about suits. The same mathematician who developed the original result now says that for many games, four shuffles is enough. And the result isn't only important for card sharks. It helps reveal the math underlying Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulations, telling applied mathematicians when they can stop their simulations."

SHANGHAI, Nov 12 (Reuters) - China's central bank is expected to auction up to 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) of three-month bills in its regular open market operations on Thursday at a yield of about 2.60 percent, traders said on Wednesday. Most said that the auction result would drop about 23 basis points from the 2.8275 percent yield at the last auction for such bills sold two weeks ago, which remains well above the secondary market yield on bills with the same tenor, and from 3.0310 percent in the previous week. But a few traders expect the auction result would come in even lower, within a range of between 2.40 and 2.50 percent after steep falls seen in short-term bill yields in recent weeks. The indicative three-month bill yield in the secondary market fell to a 21-month low of 2.

MotorolaMotorola photo gallery : Whilst working on the upcoming Motorola ZN5 review, we took the ZN5 along to shoot some pictures. At the time of the GSMA (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona at the beginning of this year, Kodak convincingly showed a new image sensor that we would soon find in a mobile phone. And it is the Motorola ZN5 mobile camphone that features the new Kodak sensor. With the aid of a Pantone Color Viewing Light box, Kodak demonstrated the result of the image quality of this entirely newly developed sensor. The Motorola ZN5 phone offers a resolution of 5 Megapixels and delivers a fine photo result in practice. The built-in Kodak EasyShare software enables in-camera editing of the digital pictures.
