Apple is reported to be planning to launch a "nano" version of the iPhone handset just before Christmas. In a very short article, The Mail on Sunday newspaper, citing an unnamed industry source says that the phone would be launched by O2, which has the current exclusive rights to the iPhone in the UK on PrePay tariffs for £150 (US$300).

Tandy Leather Factory Inc reported that sales for the month of July were $4.2 million compared to $4.3 million in July 2007, down 2%. Year to date sales are down 3% at $31.4 million in the current year from $32.3 million last year. Tandy's UK store, which opened in mid-February, reported July sales of $89,000 and $326,000 year-to-date.

BlackBerry-maker RIM profit misses estimates; shares drop in late trading

"Research In Motion Ltd. reported profit and sales that missed analysts' estimates after delaying the release of the BlackBerry Bold phone in the U.S., its biggest market. The shares fell 8.7 percent in late trading," Vivek Shankar reports for Bloomberg. (RIM reported net income of $495.5 million, or 86 cents a share. Analysts predicted a profit of 87 cents on average, according to a Bloomberg survey. Revenue of $2.58 billion, compared with the average projection of $2.59 billion from analysts.)

SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korea on Saturday reported a suspected bird flu outbreak at a duck farm in Yesan city, south of Seoul, the first since the latest confirmed case about five months ago, local media reported.

Wedding products retailer The Knot Inc. has reported e-commerce revenue of $13.4 million for the second quarter ended June 30, a 7% increase over $12.5 million for the same period in 2007. Online sales growth, however, beat overall sales growth: The retailer reported revenue of $28.7 million for the second quarter of 2008, a negligible rise over net revenue of $28.5 million for the second quarter of 2007. The merchant blames the stagnation in part on the economy.

(HAR) reported Q4 net income of $31.7 million or $0.54 per share on $1.07 billion in revenue vs. $105 million or $1.58 per share a year ago, down 70% (see earnings call transcript). Excluding items (restructuring, merger and tax related), HAR reported $0.68 per share vs. $0.98 per share a year ago, down 31%. September 4, 2008 - Take-Two Interactive has released its third quarter fiscal 2008 financial results. The company reported a massive $433.8 million net revenue for the quarter, which ended on July 31. This is more than a 210% increase over $206.4 million, the previous year's third quarter postings. Take-Two Interactive's Q3 2008 net income was $51.8 million, which is significant when you compare it to the company's $58.5 million reported net loss for the same quarter of the previous year.

The draft concept of the RF Armed Forces construction elaborated till 2030 doesn't provide for the cancellation of draft service, Gazeta reported Friday. Hackers 'find black hole in atom smasher computers'

Hackers claim they have broken into the computer system of the Large Hadron Collider, the mega-machine designed to expose secrets of the cosmos, British newspapers reported on Saturday. A group calling itself the Greek Security Team left a rogue web page mocking the technicians responsible for computer security at the giant atom smasher as ‘schoolkids’, the Times and Daily Telegraph reported. The hackers vowed they had no intention of disrupting the experiment at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) on the Swiss-French border, they just wanted to highlight the flaws in the computer system’s security. “We’re pulling your pants down because we don’t want to see you running around naked looking to hide yourselves when the panic comes,” they wrote, according to the Daily Telegraph.
