It was only a matter of time before some of the levels created by LittleBigPlanet owners overstepped the boundaries of taste and copyright ownership. Unsurprisingly Media Molecule is already having to take action and, to the annoyance of some members of the wider gaming community, has removed certain levels entirely.

eBay moves to stop sales of “free” inauguration tickets. Under pressure from the feds, eBay moved Thursday to shutdown ticket sales to Barack Obama’s swearing-in ceremony. The tickets, which are supposed to be free, won’t actually be dolled out until a few days before the event. However, ticket sales for the event were booming on eBay. Caving in to pressure from the Federal Inaugural Committee, eBay Inc. on Thursday removed tickets to the Jan. 20 swearing-in ceremony. eBay’s StubHub subsidiary, which  as of Wednesday had tickets to the ceremony listed from a low of $1,950 to a high of $7,500, also removed the items, reports The Washington Post.  Nichola Sharpe, eBay spokeswoman, said the main issues discussed at the meeting in Washington were “the distribution method and the monetary value” of the tickets, but she wo

NASA's Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) has been beset by technical challenges and inevitable budget overruns. The nuclear-powered rover is set for an October 2009 launch and engineers are doubling their efforts to ensure the MSL makes it to the launchpad on time. In an attempt to save money and (hopefully) time, MSL program managers have decided to remove a $2 million component from the car-sized wheeled robot. A sample storage box was conceived long after the initial MSL science goals were drawn up (a pretty controversial decision in itself), so analysed rock samples could be saved for a possible future Mars sample-return mission.

SHANGHAI (XFN-ASIA) - China A-shares finished the morning higher with banks in demand after the central bank confirmed the removal of lending caps imposed at the start of the year, dealers said. Brokers declined the most with Haitong Securities (SHA 600837) hit hard on fresh worries over share supply pressure. Some 1.2 bln of its A-shares will come out of the lock-up period and become tradable later this month. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ended the morning up 13.81 points or 0.8 pct at 1,742.59, off a low of 1,702.98. The People's Bank of China (PBoC) said it abandoned the lending caps to help insulate the domestic economy from global economic turmoil. Li Chao, a spokesman for the central bank, also suggested in a report carried by the official Xinhua news agency that the PBoC may reduce interest rates further.
