vigmeister writes "I hopped on the netbook bandwagon early this year in a rather odd fashion by picking up an outdated portable tablet (Fujitsu P1510) which just about matches the latest, greatest netbooks for their performance and portability features, while nipping them by managing to give me a better battery life. I've been happy using XP Tablet on this machine until recently, when I started thinking that by optimizing the OS for targeted use, I may be able to squeeze more out of the device. So, my questions are: What OS would you recommend for a netbook/outdated laptop? Usage is typically light — web surfing (with multimedia), email, word processing, spreadsheet and reading PDFs. Also, what OS would you recommend for a ultraportable tablet? Usage is similar to a netbook; there's a little more document editing going on, and good hand

I have to create a website which will only have readable content. But the content is spread and it is not ready. But it is urgent to finish the site. I was thinking about dynamic content. As and when the new text is ready it will be placed on a file. When the user will click on the link the java code will read that file and display it on jsp.

We recommend a buy in Oriental Bank of Commerce from a short-term horizon. It is clearly apparent from the charts of Oriental Bank of Commerce that following an intermediate downtrend from January peak of Rs 321, it found support at the early July low of Rs 122 and began to consolidate sideways. In October, the stock took support at around Rs 122, a significant support level and bounced upward.

kev009 writes to recommend his editorial overbiew of the past, present and future of Linux file systems: ext2, ext3, ReiserFS, XFS, JFS, Reiser4, ext4, Btrfs, and Tux3. "In hindsight it seems somewhat tragic that JFS or even XFS didn't gain the traction that ext3 did to pull us through the 'classic' era, but ext3 has proven very reliable and has received consistent care and feeding to keep it performing decently. ... With ext4 coming out in kernel 2.6.28, we should have a nice holdover until Btrfs or Tux3 begin to stabilize. The Btrfs developers have been working on a development sprint and it is likely that the code will be merged into Linus's kernel within the next cycle or two."

Stuart, Sci/Tech Editor: I recommend first designing and constructing a laser-rangefinding Galvanic Skin Response device. Then, wear a low-cut top/tight pants (if you’re female or male, respectively - not mixing that up is dreadfully important) and... Er, what is it the kids do at “Club L”? Ah yes - rub up against your professor or something. Measuring his/her galvanic skin response post-rubbing should enlighten you as to whether he/she reciprocates your feelings (well, no one is exactly sure what GSR primarily measures, but most will agree that it’s a good indicator of sexual feelings and emotional arousal). And voila, an answer to a pressing interpersonal problem at a minimum of interpersonal interaction! Now that’s better living through science!
