Interior Ministry asks top officials to use BlackBerry

PESHAWAR: The Interior Ministry has asked high-ranking police and security officials in all the four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the Northern Areas (NAs) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to switch to electronic communication to save time and keep abreast of key developments, Daily Times learnt on Saturday. A letter from the Interior Ministry’s National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC), seen by Daily Times, has asked police chiefs, home secretaries, the Frontier Corps inspector general (IG), director generals of Punjab and Sindh Rangers, chief commissioner and IGs of ICT, the NAs and AJK to switch to electronic communication to receive alerts concerning any law and order situation. The letter asked the officials to submit their BlackBerry/cellphone numbers to the ministry.
