The company has announced VMware MVP, a thin layer of software that will interface between handsets' hardware and operating system, allowing for a standardized development platform across any handsets that include it. rallymatte writes to mention that camera maker RED has announced a new digital stills and motion camera system that includes one model that can shoot up to 28K at 25 fps. The new system will come in three tiers: Scarlet, Epic, and their top of line model which won't be out until possibly 2010. Still image capture will range anywhere from 4.9 megapixels to an insane 261 megapixels. In addition to some impressive 'traditional' hardware, RED also announced a 3D camera.

Microsoft has joined Google in pushing to use television white space for a national wireless broadband. The Federal Communications Commission has scheduled a vote on white space for Nov. 4. Microsoft said it has been looking at white space since 2002 and agreed with Google that approval could make the U.S. a world leader in broadband.
