Unsmooth playback after editing recorded TV programme by DVD hard disk recorder

I am facing problem while editing recorded TV programmes. The TV programme were recorded and edited using the same DVD hard disk recorder, not by means of computer. I find that after deleting the unwanted parts of the programme ( e.g the advertisment, etc), when playback, the player will pause for a while at every joining parts of the programme before continuing. At times, the player will pause for quite a long time before continue to the next immediate part. The playback were not smooth at all.
