Right on the heels of the awful court decision in France saying that eBay can be barred from selling even legitimate products, it appears some companies in England are shooting for a similar ruling. Jon Pyser writes in to let us know that a bunch of baby stroller companies in the UK are pushing hard to stop retailers from selling their legitimately purchased products on eBay. Effectively, they're trying to put EULAs on baby strollers suggesting that the retailer buyers don't actually have the right to resell what they've legally purchased. Not only is this questionable from a legal standpoint, it's dumb from a business standpoint. A healthy secondary market for products increases the value of the product itself, since buyers intrinsically recognize the potential resale market in determining the value of purchasing the original.

Australian Energy watchdog "The Source" took a look at different electronic products around the house, and looked at how much energy they use per month, and what that works out to on a yearly basis. They looked at products like Apple's iMac, a wireless router, and even products like Microsoft's XBOX 360 and the PS3. Believe it or not, the piece of electronics that uses the most electricity is Sony's PS3. It uses a staggering 1738.39 kWh per year which works out to about $261 (Australian). Believe it or not, the PS3 when idling for the same amount of time uses 1655.20 kWh, so if you aren't going to use the thing, don't turn it on, as it is a "gas guzzler". (Nanowerk Spotlight) The controversy over the use of nanoparticles in everyday products, such as cosmetics, has been going on for a while now. At best, the evidence is inconclusive – it's too early to say whether there is a risk or not. The cosmetics industry of course argues that their nanoparticle-containing products are perfectly safe because no problem has been reported so far. Consumer, health and environmental groups beg to differ and claim that there is a potential risk because we just don't know enough about this issue and that we rather should err on the side of caution.

Retailers can specify which products appear first in a site search and which related products should be displayed. The updated Google product also permits users to refine searches by parameters the retailer sets, such as price, brand or style. And it costs as little as $100 per year. Google has given a new name to its site search tool and added features that give online retailers greater control over which products appear when customers search. What has not changed is the low price—the service starts at just $100 per year.
