Port Forwarding with Perl

Many people are thinking of ssh tunnels when they talk about port forwarding. It's easy to set up and you probably have everything you need (i.e., ssh) on most any system you want to use it on. Port forwarding does not have to be done through a tunnel, however, nor does it require ssh. Any script or program that rewrites packets in such a way as to accomplish the forwarding of packets from one port or system to another can be used for port forwarding. This doesn't mean that it's easy to build this kind of script or program, but it does mean thay tools like this are available.

Neuros has taken another stab at the open-source set-top box market, and created the "Open Source Device 2." The original OSD was aimed at developers, but ended up finding use as a DVR. The new OSD2 has a more conventional box, can encode video at 720p in MPEG-4 format, H.264 D1 resolution (that's DVD quallity) from an analog video source, upscale video to 1080i or transcode it for a PMP. At the CEATEC show earlier this week, Yamaha’s electronics arm introduced two new mini audio systems with integrated iPod/iPhone docking stations, the TSX-120 and TSX-130. Both systems also share a built-in FM radio tuner and the same 15WRMS x 2 amplifier to drive the pair of 3.1-inch speakers.
