Panasonic Mobile & NTT Data Form Alliance

Panasonic Mobile Communications and NTT DATA Corp. announced they have reached a basic agreement on a capital and business alliance on Panasonic Mobile & System Engineering (”PMSE”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Panasonic Mobile. NTT DATA will take over 60 percent of the shares issued by PMSE and establish the new, yet to be named, company in Yokohama by October 2008.

Panasonic Avionics Licenses iDirect's Satellite IP Router

Panasonic Avionics, the leading supplier of in-flight entertainment (IFE) and communication systems, will license iDirect's satellite IP router technology as a core component of the Panasonic eXConnect in-flight satellite transmission platform. Panasonic eXConnect provides two-way broadband connectivity for a broad range of passenger and crew applications, including Internet access as well as live video programming, telemedicine and the ability to monitor and report critical flight information in real time.

Panasonic Releases Rugged Ultra-Mobile PC

Panasonic's rugged, ultra-mobile PC, the Toughbook CF-U1, uses Intel's Atom processor, which is the smallest and lowest-power consumer processor. Panasonic's Toughbook CF-U1 is targeted toward remote workers, such as insurance adjusters and police officers. Panasonic's Toughbook CF-U1 features an LCD touch screen with sunlight viewability.

Panasonic Mobile Communications Co and NTT Data Corp announced Wednesday that both companies have reached a basic agreement on a capital and business alliance on Panasonic Mobile & System Engineering Co, a wholly- owned subsidiary of Panasonic Mobile. NTT DATA will take over 60% of the shares issued of PMSE.

Panasonic comes up with GaN ICs for millimeter-wave comms

Panasonic has developed Gallium Nitride (GaN) ICs for the receiver in future millimeter-wave communication systems. The amplifier IC features gain of 22dB at 26GHz, which is the world highest value in GaN-based ICs at such high frequencies, says Panasonic.

Panasonic develops Digital Wall surface computer...

Panasonic is working on a wall-mounted surface computer with an enormous touchscreen. What the company aptly calls the Digital Wall is reportedly twice the size of a normal 110-inch display, and allows users to drag folders and windows across it. Unlike the similar Microsoft TouchWall currently under development, which is based on its Surface computing technology, the Digital Wall does not yet support multi-touch inputs, although Panasonic is said to be working on it.
