eBay (NSDQ: EBAY) is in talks to acquire a minority stake in GMarket, a South Korean online auctioneer. The talks are with Interpark Corp., the Korean portal that owns 37 percent of the company. A spokesperson from eBay told AP that there was no certainty a deal would be reached or that it would be approved by South Korean regulators—eBay already owns a South Korean competitor, the aptly named Internet Auction. No deal terms have been announced, although shares of NASDAQ-listed GMarket shot up over 14 percent on the news. In 2006, Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) took a 10 percent stake in GMarket, so they’re a beneficiary of this as well.

July 18, 2008 (FinancialWire) Mattel Inc. (NYSE: MAT) has won a nearly complete victory in its federal copyright infringement case against rival MGA Entertainment Inc. over which toymaker owns the original drawings for the $1 billion-plus Bratz fashion doll franchise. Other than four drawings that Bryant testified he made in a notebook while on an eight-month hiatus from Mattel in 1998, privately held MGA lost the rights t

Ben Morris writes "A recent judgement in the UK courts has forced a former employee to hand over details of his business contacts built up through LinkedIn.com while he was employed by his former company. The decision is one of the first in the UK to show the tension between businesses encouraging their employees to use social networking websites, and trying to claim that the contacts should remain confidential when they leave."

The other day I blogged about how the Foxconn G33M-S motherboard didn’t play nicely with Linux because it broke ACPI support. Well, as it turns out the problem isn’t a Foxconn one but it’s down to American Megatrends (AMI) having shipped a defective BIOS. Also, as it turns out, other boards are also affected.

We have tried to get various animals to do our bidding in the past but without much luck. Squirrels are no use as though they are great at fetching stuff, they just can’t sit still which can get annoying. Then there are monkeys which though fun to have around and great for moral, are entirely unionized these days (due to their sheer numbers in the workplace) and never shy with an unreasonable demand.

NetSuite offers no out-of-the box relational export, and they make it hard to get your data out of the system through other means. A reasonable person could conclude that NetSuite uses these "features" as sales tactics to lock the user into their system. Other online CRM vendors seem to have a much more reasonable approach to "your" data.
