NEW YORK, Dec 02, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Yehuda Diamonds filed a federal lawsuit seeking to require Blue Nile, Inc., which claims to be the world's largest online retailer of certified diamonds and fine jewelry, to offer a full and complete refund to any Blue Nile customers who wish to return emeralds or emerald jewelry items purchased from the company. The complaint, "Diascience Corp. dba Yehuda Diamond Company and John Does. nos. 1-10, vs. Blue Nile Inc.," was filed November 12 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (Court Case #08CV9751). Blue Nile shares are listed on the NASDAQ.

Blue Nile Expands Financing Offer

Seattle-based Blue Nile, the online retailer of diamonds and jewelry, is looking to attract economy-wary shoppers by expanding its financing options. The firm said this morning that it is expanding its use of the Bill Me Later payment option, the financing service which allows users to purchase products on credit. According to Blue Nile, customers using its site can now use Bill Me Later to select no interest financing for six months on orders over $500, or 90 days of no interest for orders over $250. Blue Nile also offers financing through Bank of America. The firm said the move comes to "enhance" the shopping experience of its customers. Blue Nile originally said it would use Bill Me Later in September.

Ah yes, the Christmas shopping season is right around the corner ... so, I thought I would take a look at one of my favorite Internet shopping stops, Blue Nile (NILE: sentiment, chart, options) . What a concept, you get high-quality jewelry at a decent price without having to go to the mall or a jeweler. This morning, Stifel Nicolaus upped the online retailer to "buy" from "hold," making it look like NILE would enjoy a positive day. That wasn't the case, as NILE rallied initially, then backed away from double-barreled resistance from the 26 level and the stock's 10-day moving average. At last check, the stock had swallowed a loss greater than 4%.
