The charge has been laid that while Barbadian artists have struggled against the odds to push Barbadian art and innovation in international markets the legislation and infrastructure needed to aid them is woefully behind the times.

Michael Clarke is at his most watchable when he is flashing drives and lofting the ball, but it is an innings like this one at Delhi that confirms his status as Australia's next captain. There was only one thing the team needed from Clarke on the fourth day - a match-saving century - and unless there is a shocking collapse late on Sunday he has delivered. He is now so confident he thinks Australia might even be able to steal a win.

I recently needed to check on the status of some processes running on a server. I simply logged into the server and fired up Task Manager. This worked fine for a quick one-time check. What is really needed, though, is an automated way to keep tabs on these processes. The .NET Framework has classes that make it very easy to retrieve the same information that is available on the Processes tab in Task Manager. Here is a function that takes a process and returns its current state:

Since 1994, Congress has prohibited federal financing for embryo experiments. Scientists have long complained that such funding is needed to fully explore the potential benefits of embryonic stem cells, which divide to become all the cells needed in the human body and which may offer treatments for Alzheimer's and other diseases.

A method of simplified computational modeling of oxidation of hydrocarbons is undergoing development. This is one of several developments needed to enable accurate computational simulation of turbulent, chemically reacting flows. At present, accurate computational simulation of such flows is difficult or impossible in most cases because (1) the numbers of grid points needed for adequate spatial resolution of turbulent flows in realistically complex geometries are beyond the capabilities of typical supercomputers now in use and (2) the combustion of typical hydrocarbons proceeds through decomposition into hundreds of molecular species interacting through thousands of reactions. Hence, the combination of detailed reaction-rate models with the fundamental flow equations yields flow models that are computationally prohibitive.

My employer, Warnbro Community Library in Western Australia, had a problem with wasted paper from printing. Library patrons often sent unnecessary print jobs to the printers, then refused to pay for them, leaving reams of unclaimed paper. The library needed a print queue to enable library staff to control patrons' print jobs. It needed to be easy to set up and maintain and cost nothing. We found the answer in using Linux as a print server.
