Be careful when you want to share your Gmail email address but not your name. If you signed up for Google’s mail app with your real name, people knowing certain privacy holes in Google’s applications will be able to find out your first and last name as you provided them. E.g. if your email address is “ExampleElven2000@gmail.com” and you pass it on, someone could take this address, apply the trick, and end up with the full name “Jane Doe”, even if you never contacted them in any way.

I have a .ltd.uk domain name and wondered if this domain name is going to prevent good rankings in the search engines. Should I buy another domain name? Problem is the site is quite established, so I don't really want to start again. Should I be able to rank highly for the UK market?

narramissic writes "We all know well the perils of password reuse. But what about the information used to reset passwords? Many sites use a standard set of questions — your mother's maiden name, the name of your best friend, what city you grew up in, or what brand your first car was. And you probably have a standard set of responses, making them easy to remember but not very secure. 'The city you grew up in and your mother's maiden name can be derived from public records. Facebook might unwittingly tell the name of your best friend. And, until quite recently, Ford with its 25% market share had a pretty good chance of being the brand of your first car,' says security researcher Markus Jakobsson. But 'password reset does not have to be a weak link,' says Jakobsson.

When the Wii console first came out, everyone and their mother commented on how stupid the name was. It still is to be perfectly honest, but after a couple of years we have grown more accustomed to hearing it. But imagine what it would be like if your legal name was Wii? Believe it or not, a guy named Wii Yatani has had the now famous moniker since birth, and he claims that Nintendo's console has changed his life for the better.

Microsoft's major hardware redesign for the Xbox 360 could also be followed by a new name, a purported leak at CAG says. Coming from a source that also leaked definitive evidence of the Xbox 360 Elite in advance, an apparent memo suggests that Microsoft has settled on calling a revised Xbox 360 the Pure. The name would have been decided after using the codenames "Lean" and "Granite," alluding to the system having a smaller case design and potentially a new color as well.
