Los Angeles-based MySpace said Thursday morning that it has launched a new initiative to allow Yahoo, eBay, Photobucket, and Twitter to pull public profile data into their websites. MySpace said its "Data Availability" effort will allow users to dynamically share their public profile information with other sites. MySpace will allow users to control what information they share with who, including basic profile information, photos, videos, and friends. The initial links will show up in Yahoo's Instant Messenger application, eBay's profiles, MySpace's own Photobucket subsidiary, and also to provide better profile information to the popular Twitter instant messaging application.

MySpace spammers given largest fine in CAN-SPAM history

MySpace won the largest CAN-SPAM judgment in US history this week when the defendants failed to show up in court. The US District Court for the Central District of California made a default judgment against Sanford Wallace and Walter Rines for using MySpace to send more than 700,000 spam messages to users of the popular social networking service.
