In iPhone vs Android War, Apple Has First Mover Advantage

If Apple and Google had released their SDK on the same day, the outcome might have been different, according to Peter Burrows with BusinessWeek on Thursday. However, Apple has a strong head start, and that First Mover effect gives Apple the advantage.

Mover and shaker of the genome

Epigenetics is moving from the laboratory to the clinic and the pharmacy, with several histone deacetylase inhibitors on the market and epigenetic screening likely to become as widespread as genetic screening.

iPhone vs Android: When It Comes To Wooing Developers, Don't Underestimate the First Mover Advantage

Now that the first Android phone is out, most of the analysis has centered on the fascinating contrast in smart phone business models between Apple and Google. You’ve got Google with a wide open approach, in which almost anyone can create applications or create new Android-compliant phones, versus Apple’s more closely managed approach. Apple seems likely to keep a tighter rein on what software gets into its AppStore, and it’s clearly going with an iPhone-only hardware strategy. You’ve even got HTC’s keyboard/touchscreen, versus Apple’s touchscreen-only product.

Dhoni displaces Smith as No. 1 ODI batsman

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India's limited-overs captain, has moved to the top spot in the ICC rankings for ODI batsmen after his consistent performance with the bat in the recent series against Sri Lanka. The other big mover is Andrew Flintoff, who is now ranked as the No. 1 allrounder in ODIs.

Smartphone trend report shows continuing growth

September 15, 2008 The latest metrics data* from advertising firm AdMob provides an interesting snapshot of the continuing rise of smartphone usage in the global marketplace. Smartphones now account for more than a quarter (25.8%) of worldwide traffic according to the company's August figures with the Nokia N70 leading the pack with an 11.7% share. In the US, the BlackBerry 8100 is the weapon of choice garnering 14.7% of traffic but the big mover - somewhat unsurprisingly, is Apple's iPhone, which the report found to be the fastest growing device in the world last month putting it into fourth spot in the US where its traffic doubled (7.8%) and ninth globally ( 3.8%).

Exquisite black Welsh Thoroughbred pony show prospect!

This adorable colt was born on June 8, 2008 and is just perfect! He is going to be at the top of anything he does and will take you with him! He is fancy enough to win on the A Circuit! He is friendly and likes people and will be handled daily until he goes to his new home (he'll be ready to go the first part of October). His mother is about 12 hh and his sire will mature around 16.1 - 16.2 hh so this colt won't get much (if any) bigger than 14 hh. He looks like a miniature TB and is an amazing mover. He is halter broke, leads very well, has been clipped and stands perfectly to have his feet picked up. He is black and has one white sock and a white heel in the front. I will get him gelded once things cool off a bit more so there aren't any flies unless someone wants him as a stud.
