Earlier this month, Mom Central Consulting, an agency that targets mothÂers, released a 55-page trend report, IlluÂminating the Power of Mom Bloggers. The study, which includes interviews with 300 mom bloggers and surveys of 495 moms across the country, found that over 78% of mom bloggers review products and 96% of moms value the recommenÂdations they find on these sites.

netbuzz writes "The state of Washington is suing a search engine optimization and Web services outfit, based in Redmond, that has done business under the names Visible.net, Captures.com, and WebMarketingSource.com. In essence, the state says these entities have deceived mostly mom-and-pop sites through unfulfilled performance promises and financial shenanigans after charging up to $10,000 in up-front charges and more in monthly fees. About 90 complaints have been lodged over four years, the state says."

My mom actually sent me this link to an iPhone cover made for blind people. While regular, non-touch screen cell phones can be easily used by the visually impaired, up until now, the iPhone was unusable by the blind. While this design is cool, my mom is probably just hinting at what she wants for Christmas.

My brother, sisters and I all remember the Halloween in the late '70s that Mom decided to give out popcorn instead of candy. It is referred to as the "Crappy Halloween," specifically because of Mom's attempt at healthy treats -- and she pilfered and ate all of our trick-or-treating chocolate while we were in a sugar-induced coma.

Several months ago SFGate launched Bay Area Moms, a page that pulls together parenting stories from The Chronicle and other places. My favorite section on the page is "Your blogs," where local moms and dads share their views on raising kids in the Bay Area. Here, you might read about a mom dropping her child off at daycare for the first time or about a mom who decides to skip preschool all together. In an effort to get out the word about these reader blogs, I plan to periodically post stories on the parents who are writing them.

Admit it, how many of these scenarios apply to you? My husband would add "if you watched the movie 'Helvetica' with great interest, then you're a Web designer." He started watching it with me, but finally walked out in disgust muttering something about movies about font faces just being wrong. I was wishing IE6 would go extinct like 2 years before it came out! And I yelled at my mom when she wasn't going to download Firefox to her new computer. I also successfully convinced my father in law to switch to Mac (haven't convinced my mom yet... but I'm working on it). When I was using vi to write all my HTML, I constantly found :wq in my Word documents. And now I get frustrated when my spreadsheet doesn't come with design view.

Not only has a 56-year-old Ohio woman given birth to triplets, but they're her own granddaughters. Jaci Dalenberg, of Wooster, carried the babies as a surrogate for her daughter, Kim Coseno. The two identical twins and their sister were born by Caesarean section Oct. 11 at the Cleveland Clinic's Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights and are still in the hospital's care. They were more than two months premature and each weighed less than three pounds.
