Modded Controllers Strike Again

Shortly after Call of Duty 4 was released, a certain number of players realized that certain modifications to an Xbox 360 controller would allow the rate of fire from single-shot weapons such as the M14 to be dramatically increased. From buying online, in-store, or with some clever DIY, players everywhere realized the gameplay benefit of modding their controllers. As the Call of Duty 5 beta emerged, these 'Turbo' or 'modded' controllers became increasingly more popular.

Microsoft Bans Users with Modded Xbox 360s

Larry Hryb, the Xbox Live Director of Programming, has announced that Microsoft has banned those users who logged onto Xbox Live using modified Xbox 360 systems.

PC Hacked Into an Old Dreamcast

This PC modded into a Dreamcast is pretty damn spiffy. Well, that is unless you are a die hard Dreamcast fan, then you might be a little upset. I snagged a couple pictures for those of you too lazy to click the link.

Yes, This Buttonless Xbox 360 Controller Still Works

While at first glance this modded Xbox 360 controller might seem kind of useless, what with its total lack of buttons, it's actually designed for better FPS gaming. All of the buttons have been moved to the back, like prior mods we've seen, but it also has moved the thumbsticks together in the center and presented a downright awesome clean aesthetic. With the buttons on the back you can keep your thumbs on the sticks and let your other fingers handle jumping and running and reloading and the like. Hit the jump for a pic of the back and a video of it in action.

NFS Undercover and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Pirated for Xbox 360

We already reported that Microsoft had banned quite a lot of users who modded their Xbox 360 consoles in order to play pirated games. But now it seems that, although these people can't access the Xbox Live service, it doesn't mean that they are out of business, as copies of Need for Speed Undercover and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe have already appeared on torrent sites.

Gears of War 2 Filled with Glitches

Gears of War 2 has been available for a few days to a small percentage of gamers that have a modded xbox and tons of glitches have been popping up recently on youtube. Many of those will give you advantages over the opponent therefore ruining the Online Multiplayer experienced for many. This is just the beggining of the glitches that will be found.

Slot Loading Xbox 360 Uses Guts of an iMac

It's a matter of taste, but seeing the technological phenomenon in motion, this slot loading Xbox 360 is fairly enviable. Modded with a Frankensteinian hybrid drive combining half the Xbox's stock Hitachi (DVD) drive with half of an iMac's stock (CD-ROM) drive, the job looks like it must have been a complete pain. But luckily, we have the power of internet video to get our vicarious optical media insertion kicks. [Xbox-Scene via Hardocp]

LG and Microsoft readying iPhone killer

It's no secret that LG's touchscreen blowers, from the Viewty to the Cookie, leave a lot to be desired when it comes to actually pawing them. And likewise, despite heavily modded versions rocking up on the HTC Touch Diamond and Sony Xperia X1, Windows Mobile has taken a pounding thanks to the combined firepower of RIM, Google and Apple.
